Tech gifts for men · 2026
Cool tech gifts for men: the one he’ll wear every day.
Plenty of tech-gift lists run to dozens of gadgets, and many of those gadgets end up in a drawer. This guide makes one case instead: smart glasses are tech he puts on his face every morning. Here is which frame suits which man, what they do and don't do, and when to order so it arrives in time.

1. Why smart glasses make a cool tech gift
The test for a tech gift is simple: is he still using it in three months? Many men already have earbuds or a speaker. A gadget that needs its own charger, app and habit often loses that test. Glasses are different, because putting them on is already part of his day. Smart glasses add three things to a frame he would wear anyway:
- An 8 MP camera at the frame corner. A touch on the temple takes a photo or starts a clip, so the view from the trail, the lift or the boat gets captured without reaching for a phone. Nothing records unless he starts it.
- Open-ear speakers and microphones for music, podcasts and calls over Bluetooth 5.4, while he can still hear traffic and the people around him.
- Translation through the free HeyCyan app: 40+ languages on the M08, M02C and M08C, 139 on the M14. He hears the translation in the glasses; the other person reads the reply on his phone. It needs the phone and a connection.
2. Which frame for which man
Start from what he does, not from the spec sheet. Prices below are what one pair costs at checkout, where the first-pair offer is applied automatically; every one of them qualifies for free US shipping, which starts at $99. Prices checked 2026-10-05; checkout price may change.
| If he’s into | Frame · at checkout | Lens to choose | Why it suits him |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skiing, cycling, fast sport | M14 · $149 | Fixed shield in one of 4 colourways | 52 g wrap that stays put, IPX4, Sony IMX219, stabilised 1080p, 4 GB onboard |
| Hiking, driving, fishing (wet days) | M02C · $109 | Sunglasses (full tint) | IP65, about 41 g, dual-stabilised Sony IMX219, “Hey Cyan” visual AI |
| Hiking, driving, everyday sun | M08 · $99 | Sunglasses (full tint) | Lowest price, about 42 g, 7 h listening, no published water rating |
| Business, golf, the office | M08C · $119 | Gold or Silver trim; sun, photochromic or clear | Metal trim that dresses up, Sony IMX219, clear lens for indoor wear |
Buying for two people, say him and his brother or father? Two or more pairs in one order are 50% off all eyewear, so two M08 come to $149 in total. The comparison page has every spec side by side.
3. M14 ($149 at checkout): skiing, cycling and fast sport
The M14 is the one for a man who moves fast. It is a one-piece wrap-around shield rather than a two-lens frame, weighs 52 g, and is rated IPX4 against sweat and splashes. The camera is an 8 MP Sony IMX219 that records stabilised 1080p at 30 fps to 4 GB of onboard memory, which is what you want on a descent. It shares almost no specifications with the other three: its battery split is the reverse (4 hours of listening, 7 hours of calls), it translates 139 languages, and its shield cannot be swapped.
Choose the colourway as you would choose a ski goggle: Nero (black frame, smoke shield), Azzurro (black frame, blue mirror), Ghiaccio (white frame, ice-blue mirror) or Tramonto (white frame, sunset-red mirror). More in smart glasses for skiing and smart glasses for cycling.
4. M08 ($99) and M02C ($109): hiking, driving and fishing
For many men the right gift is a pair of everyday sunglasses that happens to be smart. The M08 and M02C are both two-lens TR90 frames with a full-tint Sunglasses lens option, and both look like ordinary dark glasses.
- M08 ($99 at checkout). The simplest place to start: about 42 g, an 8 MP camera, open-ear audio, rated 7 hours of listening and 4 hours of calls. It has no published water rating, so it suits dry trails, the commute and everyday sun.
- M02C ($109 at checkout). The one we would choose for a man who is outdoors in any weather. It is rated IP65 against rain and spray (not for swimming or immersion), weighs about 41 g, charges magnetically, and uses a Sony IMX219 sensor with dual stabilisation. It is also the only frame of the four with “Hey Cyan” visual AI, which answers questions about what he is looking at through the phone app.
On the road, these are for calls and directions through the open-ear speakers; the camera should stay off while driving. For the water, see smart glasses for fishing, and for the trail, smart glasses for hiking.
5. M08C ($119 at checkout): business, golf and the office
The M08C is the gift for a man who wears a jacket to work. It is the same two-lens TR90 frame with gold or silver metal trim, about 42 g, an 8 MP Sony IMX219 camera and the same 7-hour listening rating as the M08. Choose a sun lens for the golf course, or the clear lens if he will wear them indoors at a desk and in meetings; photochromic sits in between.
Camera at work.Recording colleagues, clients or meetings may require their consent, depending on the state and on the employer’s policy. He should check both and ask before recording. See smart glasses recording laws by state.
6. What isn’t there
A gift should match what he expects, so here is what these frames are not, in plain terms:
- No display. Nothing appears in front of his eyes. Audio comes through the speakers; anything visual stays on the phone.
- No prescription lenses on any model. If he needs glasses to see, these are not the right gift.
- Visual AI on the M02C only. The M08, M08C and M14 have the camera, audio and translation, but not “Hey Cyan” visual AI.
- Needs his phone. Photos, translation and settings go through the free HeyCyan app on iOS 14+ or Android 9+.
7. Ordering for a birthday or the holidays
US orders typically arrive in 5–9 business days; international orders take 9–14 business days. Business days skip weekends and public holidays, so allow about two weeks before the date in the US and about three weeks elsewhere, and more in December, when every carrier is busy. Each order gets a tracking link you can follow at oxivue.com/track.
Refunds, exchanges and warranty. OXIVUE does not offer refunds except for an order damaged in transit, which is replaced or refunded, so settle fit and lens before you buy. On the M08 family you can swap the lens type or trim within 30 days of delivery if the pair is unworn. Faults after delivery are covered by the 2-year warranty through repair or replacement. For the gifting checklist, read the smart glasses gift guide; for sizing and style, see smart glasses for men and stylish smart glasses.
Frequently asked questions
What are some good gift ideas for men?
The gifts that land are the ones he uses without thinking about it. Tech that lives in a drawer, such as a gadget he has to charge, set up and remember, is the usual miss. Something he wears every day is the opposite. Camera smart glasses fit that idea: a pair of sunglasses or everyday glasses that also takes photos, plays music and handles calls. Match the frame to what he does: the OXIVUE M14 for skiing and cycling, the M08 or M02C for hiking, driving and fishing, and the M08C for golf and the office.
What is a cool tech gift for a man who has everything?
Pick a category he probably does not own yet rather than an upgrade of something he has. Many men already have earbuds or a speaker; glasses with a camera and open-ear audio built in are a less common thing to own. One pair of OXIVUE smart glasses is $99 to $149 at checkout depending on the model, with free US shipping. Before you order, check that he wears sunglasses or glasses without a prescription, because none of our frames take prescription lenses.
What do Gen Z want as gifts?
We do not have survey data on that, so we will not invent a ranking. What we can say is practical: if the person you are buying for films a lot of first-person clips for social media, camera glasses let them record from eye level with a touch on the temple and keep their hands free. All four OXIVUE frames have an 8 MP camera; the M02C adds a dual-stabilised Sony IMX219 sensor and the M14 records stabilised 1080p at 30 fps.
Will they work with his phone?
They pair over Bluetooth 5.4 with iPhone on iOS 14 or later and Android 9 or later. Photos, translation and settings run through the free HeyCyan app on the phone. Translation also needs the phone to have a connection, and the translated audio is heard only by the wearer; the other person reads the reply on the phone screen.
What if he doesn't like them?
Be clear on this before you buy, because it matters more for a gift. OXIVUE does not offer refunds for change of mind, fit or style. The exception is an order that arrives damaged in transit, which is replaced or refunded. On the M08, M02C and M08C you can swap the lens type (sun, photochromic, clear) or the M08C trim within 30 days of delivery if the pair is unworn and boxed; the return postage is paid by the sender. A fault after delivery is covered by the 2-year warranty through repair or replacement.
How far ahead should I order for a birthday or the holidays?
US orders typically arrive in 5 to 9 business days and international orders in 9 to 14 business days. Business days skip weekends and public holidays, so in practice allow about two weeks before the date in the US and about three weeks elsewhere, and more around late December, when carriers are busiest.
Is it legal for him to record with camera glasses?
Wearing them is legal in the US. Recording is where rules apply: audio recording falls under state law, and some states require everyone in a private conversation to agree. Workplaces, golf clubs and gyms can set their own camera policies. If he plans to wear them at work, he should check the policy and ask before recording people. Our recording-laws guide covers the state rules.
What these frames won’t do
- No prescription lenses yet, on any model. If you need vision correction all day, these can't replace your glasses.
- No display. Nothing appears in your view; you hear answers and capture photos and video.
- Open-ear speakers leak some sound at high volume and won't block out a loud train or a windy road the way sealed earbuds do.
- Translation, music, calls and the assistant need your phone nearby and connected. Translation pauses after each sentence, and only you hear the translated audio; the other person reads the reply on your phone.
- M14: one-piece shield, so the lens can't be swapped for clear or photochromic.
- M14: IPX4 covers splash, spray and rain only, and at 52 g it is heavier than the 41–42 g frames.
- M02C: IP65 resists dust and water jets, not immersion. No swimming, no saltwater.
- M08C: no published water rating, so keep it out of heavy rain and spray.
Check these before you order: see the warranty and refund policy.
