Smart glasses in Canada — what is sold here, and what ordering direct really costs.

Search for smart glasses from Canada and you get Amazon.ca listings, Best Buy Canada's Meta range, Meta's own Canadian store and a scatter of marketplace sellers. Ordering direct from a brand abroad is the other route, and it comes with a currency, a wait and a bill at the door that most guides skip. This one sets out all of it, with the official numbers.

1. What is actually sold in Canada

The Canadian results for this search are a mix of retail listings and explainers, so the useful first step is to sort out who sells what. The table below is what we saw on the live Canadian search results on October 7, 2026, plus the direct route. We quote no retailer price, because marketplace listings change daily; check the live page before you compare.

WhereWhat you will findCurrencyTry on first?

Ordering OXIVUE directCamera frames with open-ear audio and app translation: M08, M02C, M08C, M14USDNo

Two things stand out. First, the marketplace listings at the low end are mostly camera or Bluetooth frames from brands you will not find a support address for, and the specifications in the listing title are the only specifications you get. Second, the range you can most readily put on your face in a Canadian store is Meta’s, through Best Buy Canada. If fit is your worry, that is a real advantage and we say so. For what Meta’s models cost and how they differ, see the Meta glasses price guide; for the US store picture, see where to buy smart glasses.

2. Smart glasses price in Canada: CAD on the shelf, USD direct

Canadian retail prices are in Canadian dollars with sales tax added at the till, which is the whole cost. Meta’s Canadian store listed its AI glasses from CA$277 when we read it on October 7, 2026; the per-model prices were not readable from our side, so we do not quote them.

Ordering direct from OXIVUE is priced in US dollars. The M08 is listed at $149 and costs $99 at checkout for a single pair; the M02C is listed at $159 and costs $109; the M08C is listed at $169 and costs $119; the M14 is listed at $199 and costs $149. Two or more pairs in one order are 50% off all eyewear, so two M08 come to $149. The amount that reaches your card statement in Canadian dollars depends on the conversion your card issuer applies on the day. On top of that comes the bill at the door described in section 4, which no checkout page shows you. Price the whole thing before you decide: a lower sticker in US dollars is not automatically cheaper once GST or HST and a handling fee are added at delivery, and a Canadian shelf price is not automatically dearer.

Prices checked 2026-10-07; checkout price may change.Free shipping starts at $99, so every single pair qualifies, and Canada is on OXIVUE’s standard shipping lane with no surcharge.

3. Ordering direct to Canada: what actually happens

Canada is one of the 39 countries OXIVUE ships to. Here is the sequence, in the order you will see it, with nothing promised that the shipping policy does not promise.

Checkout in US dollars

You pay in US dollars and checkout adds no Canadian tax, because OXIVUE is not registered to collect GST or HST. The order confirmation shows the US-dollar amount only.

Dispatch within 1–2 business days

Most orders are picked, inspected and handed to the carrier within 1–2 business days of payment. The shipping confirmation email carries the tracking link.

Transit of 9–14 business days after shipment

International delivery is typically 9–14 business days after shipment, and some destinations take longer because of local customs handling. Canadian customs is one of the steps that can add days, so if the glasses are for a trip or a gift, order against the upper end. The full wording is on the shipping policy.

The door

Before or at delivery, the carrier asks for whatever CBSA has assessed. That is the part the next section is about, and it is the part that decides whether ordering direct makes sense for you.

4. GST/HST and duty at the door, from the official pages

The exemption is small. The CBSA says that goods worth CAN$20 or less are exempt, and that above that you must pay the applicable duty, the GST or HST, and any PST on the item’s full value. Every pair of smart glasses on this page is well above CAN$20, so assume the full assessment.

GST or HST at your province’s rate. The CRA’s rate table for supplies on or after April 1, 2025 gives 5% GST in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec, Saskatchewan and the three territories; 13% HST in Ontario; 14% HST in Nova Scotia; and 15% HST in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island. In the provinces that run a separate provincial sales tax, the CBSA page says any PST applies as well; we do not quote those rates here.

Duty, if any. Whether duty applies, and at what rate, is decided by CBSA from the tariff classification and origin of the goods. We are not going to guess a percentage for you. Budget for the possibility and treat zero duty as good news rather than the plan.

The handling fee.For items that arrive by mail, the CBSA page says Canada Post charges a handling fee to process goods that are subject to duty and/or tax, and none if the item is exempt; Canada Post’s own page puts that fee at CAN$9.95 per dutiable or taxable mail item, payable online in advance or at delivery or pick-up. CBSA says an amount owing on a mail item is shown on Form E14, attached to the item when it is delivered. If your parcel comes by courier instead, the courier sets its own fees; the CBSA page does not publish them, so check with the carrier named on your tracking page.

Those are the rules as the agencies state them on October 7, 2026. They are set by governments, not by us, and they change, so read the agency page if you are placing a large order. The honest summary for a single pair: US-dollar price, plus your province’s GST or HST on the full value, plus any duty, plus a handling fee, all paid at delivery.

5. Your provincial rights, and our policy

Consumer protection in Canada is provincial, so what applies depends on where you live. Two examples from the official pages, without pretending to be a legal survey:

  • Ontario. The province’s page on rights under the Consumer Protection Act says that when you order a product it must be delivered within thirty days of the promised delivery date or you can ask for a refund, that if you choose to keep an item that was delivered late you lose that right, and that for most contracts the company has 15 days to return your money.
  • Quebec. The Office de la protection du consommateur says that on an online purchase the legal warranties let you expect the product to serve the purpose for which it was bought, to have a reasonable lifetime given the price paid, the contract and the conditions of use, to be free of hidden defects, and to conform to the description in the contract and the advertising, and that these warranties apply automatically without charge.

OXIVUE’s own policy, in full: no refunds except transit damage (replaced or refunded); faults are repaired or replaced under the 2-year warranty; change of mind and unmet expectations are not refundable. Statutory rights where you live apply on top of that and are not reduced by it. The complete terms are on the refund policy and warranty pages. If fit is what worries you, that is the strongest argument for trying a frame on in a Canadian store first, whichever brand you buy.

6. Which OXIVUE frame for Canada

Two frames cover most Canadian buyers, and the weather decides between them.

Extra“Hey Cyan” visual AI describes what you look at—

The M02C is the pair we would send most Canadians first. IP65 is the rating that covers a wet sidewalk, slush off a bus and a sweaty trail, though not a dunk in a lake. It uses a Sony IMX219 8 MP sensor with dual stabilisation, weighs about 41 g with magnetic charging, and adds the Hey Cyan visual assistant. The M08 is the lower-priced pair with the same 8 MP resolution and the same three lens choices, and it has no published water rating, so it is the one for drier days and indoor use.

On lenses: Canadian light swings from a glaring snowfield to a dark 4 pm in December. The photochromic lens darkens in UV and clears indoors, which is the one-pair answer for most of the year, though it stays light behind a windscreen. The clear lens is the office and evening choice; never drive in a tinted lens after dark. Translation on both frames runs through the HeyCyan app on your phone, covers 40+ languages, and the translated audio is heard only by you while the other person reads the reply on your phone; it needs a data connection. The M08C ($119 at checkout) adds a gold or silver trim for the office, and the M14 ($149 at checkout) is a 52 g wrap shield rated IPX4 with 139 languages for cycling and the ski hill; its one-piece shield is fixed, so there is no photochromic or clear option. Every specification is on the comparison page and languages frame by frame on the translation page.

Two of the pages that rank for this search in Canada are about privacy, which tells you what Canadians are asking. On OXIVUE frames nothing records unless you start it with a touch on the temple, and the camera sits visibly in the frame corner. That does not settle the question of other people. Recording someone, especially their voice, raises consent questions that vary with where you are and who else is in the conversation, and workplaces, schools and venues set their own rules on top. Ask before you record a person, keep clips short and relevant, and do not use any camera frame to record someone who has not agreed to it. This is general information, not legal advice.

Bottom line

If trying the frame on and paying in Canadian dollars with the tax at the till matter most, buy from a Canadian store: Best Buy Canada and Meta’s Canadian store carry the Meta range. If you want a camera frame for less and can wait roughly 10 to 16 business days from payment, order direct, and add your province’s GST or HST, any duty and a handling fee to the US-dollar price before you compare. OXIVUE ships to Canada free on every single pair, adds no Canadian tax at checkout, and delivers typically 9–14 business days after shipment. Start with the M02C at $109 for Canadian weather, or the M08 at $99 for the lower price. Buyers in Australia and New Zealand and in Europe and the UK have their own guides, and the wider field is ranked in the under-$200 buyer’s guide.

Shipping, refunds and warranty. Free shipping from $99. US orders typically arrive in 5–9 business days; international orders, Canada included, take 9–14 business days after shipment. OXIVUE does not offer refunds except for an order damaged in transit, which is replaced or refunded. Faults after delivery are covered by the 2-year warranty through repair or replacement. None of our frames take prescription lenses. Import taxes and duties outside the US are paid by the recipient on delivery. Questions before you order go to support.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy smart glasses in Canada?

Three places show up when you search from Canada: Amazon.ca and Walmart.ca marketplace listings, Best Buy Canada for the Meta range, and Meta's own Canadian store, which listed AI glasses from CA$277 when we checked on October 7, 2026. The fourth route is ordering direct from a brand that ships to Canada. OXIVUE ships to Canada on its standard lane: the M08 is $99 at checkout and the M02C $109, in US dollars, with free shipping on every single pair.

What can smart glasses actually do?

The camera frames sold in Canada today do four things: take photos and short video from eye level, play music and calls through open-ear speakers, talk to a voice assistant, and translate speech through a phone app. On OXIVUE frames capture starts only with a touch on the temple, there is no display, and translation runs through the HeyCyan app on your phone. They do not correct your vision and they do not show anything in your view.

Is it worth buying smart glasses?

It is worth it if you will use the eye-level camera or the open-ear audio several times a week, and not worth it if you expect a screen, prescription lenses or a device that works without your phone. Price the whole thing honestly: a US$99 pair ordered to Canada also carries GST or HST at your province's rate, any duty CBSA assesses, and the carrier's handling fee, all paid at delivery.

What is the disadvantage of smart glasses?

Four, in our experience. Battery is measured in hours, not days: the OXIVUE M08 is rated 7 hours of listening or 4 hours of calls. Open-ear speakers leak some sound at high volume. Every camera frame raises a consent question when other people are in frame. And none of the frames in this price range take prescription lenses or show a display, so they sit beside your regular glasses rather than replacing them.

What are the best smart glasses on the market?

There is no single answer, because the frames differ by job. Meta's range, sold through Best Buy Canada and meta.com, is the one to try on in a store. For a camera frame at a lower price ordered direct, the OXIVUE M02C ($109 at checkout, IP65, Sony IMX219 sensor) suits everyday Canadian weather and the M08 ($99) is the lower-priced pair with the same 8 MP camera. Our wider ranking is in the under-$200 buyer's guide.

Will I pay duty and tax on smart glasses ordered from outside Canada?

Almost certainly yes. The CBSA says goods worth CAN$20 or less are exempt and that above that you pay the applicable duty, the GST or HST and any PST on the item's full value. OXIVUE adds no Canadian tax at checkout, so expect the GST or HST for your province (5% to 15% as of April 1, 2025), any duty CBSA assesses, and a carrier handling fee. Canada Post's is CAN$9.95 per dutiable or taxable item.

How long does OXIVUE take to deliver to Canada?

Orders are handed to the carrier within 1–2 business days of payment, then transit is typically 9–14 business days after shipment. Customs handling can add time, so plan on the upper end if the glasses are for a trip or a gift. The shipping confirmation email carries the tracking link, and if duty or tax is owed the carrier will ask for it before or at delivery.

What happens if something goes wrong with an OXIVUE order in Canada?

An order that arrives damaged in transit is replaced or refunded. A fault after delivery is repaired or replaced under the 2-year warranty. Change of mind, fit and features not matching your expectations are not refundable. Your provincial statutory rights, such as Quebec's legal warranty or Ontario's rules on late delivery, apply on top of that policy and are not reduced by it.

What these frames won’t do

  • No prescription lenses yet, on any model. If you need vision correction all day, these can't replace your glasses.
  • No display. Nothing appears in your view; you hear answers and capture photos and video.
  • Open-ear speakers leak some sound at high volume and won't block out a loud train or a windy road the way sealed earbuds do.
  • Translation, music, calls and the assistant need your phone nearby and connected. Translation pauses after each sentence, and only you hear the translated audio; the other person reads the reply on your phone.
  • M02C: IP65 resists dust and water jets, not immersion. No swimming, no saltwater.
  • M08: no published water rating, so keep it out of heavy rain and spray.

Check these before you order: see the warranty and refund policy.
