The two routes, side by side
Most people searching for smart glasses from Australia or New Zealand already know roughly what they want: a camera at eye level, open-ear audio, and a voice assistant or live translation, in a frame that looks like ordinary eyewear. The real decision is where to buy it. Local retail gives you a shop floor and a local counter. Ordering direct gives you a wider choice of brands and prices, at the cost of a wait and a parcel from overseas.

Buying locally: JB Hi-Fi, Kmart and the shop floor
JB Hi-Fi
JB Hi-Fi’s Australian site files smart glasses under health, fitness and wearables. Its AI glasses collection describes itself as covering Oakley, Ray-Ban and Meta, and a separate Meta AI glasses page names the Meta Adventurer and Meta Fury. We checked those pages on September 25, 2026; prices were not readable from our side, so we quote none. Check the current price on JB Hi-Fi itself before comparing.
The case for buying there is simple and real. You can put the frame on your face before you pay, which matters more with smart glasses than with almost any other gadget, because fit and weight decide whether you wear them. You pay in local currency, and a local store is the first place you go back to. If those three things matter most to you, buy locally. Kmart and budget frames
People search for Kmart smart glasses because they want to know how cheap this category can go. We tried to check Kmart Australia’s range on September 25, 2026 and the site refused our connection, so we will not describe what it stocks. What we can offer is the four-question test we would apply to any budget pair, at any store:
- Is there a camera, and at what resolution? Many low-cost frames are Bluetooth audio glasses with no camera at all. That is a fine product; it is just a different one.
- Is translation offered, and through which app?A frame that “supports translation” through a generic phone app is not the same as one with a dedicated companion app.
- Is there a water rating? If none is printed, assume none.
- Who handles a fault? A named brand with a written warranty, or nobody.

Ordering OXIVUE direct: what actually happens

1. Checkout in US dollars
Prices are set in US dollars: M08 US$149, M02C US$159, M08C US$169, M14 US$199. The amount that lands on your card statement in Australian or New Zealand dollars depends on the conversion applied when you pay. Checkout adds no GST, for the reasons set out in the next section.
2. Dispatch in 1–2 business days
Orders are picked, inspected and handed to the carrier within 1–2 business days of payment, and the shipping confirmation email carries the tracking link.
3. Transit of 9–14 business days
International transit is typically 9–14 business days after shipment. Some destinations take longer because of local customs handling, so plan around the upper end if the glasses are for a trip or a gift. Full detail is on the shipping policy.
4. The local carrier and the 48-hour gap
Australian orders have been handed to Australia Post or Aramex Australia (the network that absorbed Fastway) for the final leg. Aramex can take up to 48 hours to show a first scan. If your tracking page is empty the day your shipping email arrives, that is the gap, not a wrong number. The tracking link opens on oxivue.com/track.
GST and duty on an overseas order
This is the part most buying guides skip, so here it is from the official sources.
OXIVUE does not add GST at checkout. OXIVUE is not registered to collect Australian or New Zealand GST, so the price you see is the price charged.
Australia. The Australian Border Force says that for goods with a value of AUD1000 or less there are generally no duties, taxes or charges to pay at the border, and that GST on such low-value goods may instead be collected by overseas vendors. A single OXIVUE frame is well under that value.
New Zealand. New Zealand Customs says items bought from overseas websites for NZ$1000 or less come in without duty, and that Customs will not collect GST unless the item is part of a larger consignment valued over $1000.
Those are the rules as each agency states them today. They are set by governments, not by us, and they can change, so check the agency page if you are placing a large order.
Your consumer rights, and our policy
The ACCC says that when an online business is based overseas and provides goods directly to consumers in Australia, the business must follow the Australian Consumer Law. The same page notes it does not cover you if you have the product sent to an overseas address first and forwarded on, so order to your own address.
OXIVUE’s own policy, in full: OXIVUE does not offer refunds. The one exception is an order that arrives damaged in transit, which is replaced or refunded. Faults after delivery are handled under the 2-year warranty by repair or replacement, not refund. Change of mind, fit, and features not matching your expectations are not refundable. If fit is your worry, that is the strongest argument for trying a frame on locally first, whichever brand you end up buying.

The M02C is the one to start with: IP65 is the rating that covers a coastal shower or a sweaty walk, and it adds the Hey Cyan wake word and a visual assistant that answers questions about what you are looking at. The M08 is the lowest price in the range with the same camera and 40+ language translation. The M08C adds a gold or silver trim and meeting transcription. The M08 family offers sunglasses, clear or photochromic lenses.
The M14 is a different frame, not a bigger M08: a 52 g wrap shield rated IPX4, 139 languages, 4 GB of onboard memory, and a battery balance that runs the other way (4 hours of listening, 7 hours of calls). Its one-piece shield is fixed, so the tint is chosen once from four colourways and there is no photochromic option. It suits cycling and the snow better than the café.
