“Dupe” means two things. One of them costs you the money.
Search for a Meta glasses dupe and the results mix two categories that have almost nothing in common: independent brands making their own cheaper product, and imitations of Meta's product with nobody behind them. This guide is about telling them apart before you pay.
The word does a lot of work

2. Does it have its own model line?
Legitimate brands name and iterate their own products. A knock-off usually has one model that looks like someone else’s, described in generic terms. Our line is the M08, M02C, M08C, M08A and M14, each with a different sensor, frame and purpose — you can see them side by side on the comparison page.
3. Is a warranty stated, with a duration?
“Quality guaranteed” is not a warranty. A duration, a scope, and a process is. Ours is 2 years, and the return window is 30 days with the customer covering return postage — stated here rather than discovered later.
4. When was the companion app last updated?
This is the check almost nobody runs and it is the most predictive. Open the app store listing and look at the update date. Smart glasses are only as alive as their app, and an abandoned app turns a working camera into a paperweight after the next OS release.
5. Does a support address answer?
Email them a question before ordering. A reply within a couple of working days tells you more than any review. Silence is the answer to every future problem you might have.
6. Are frame material and weight specified?
Real specifications get published; absent ones get omitted for a reason. Our frames are Italian TR90 at 41–42 grams. If a listing will not tell you what the frame is made of or what it weighs, that silence is itself the specification.

Where we sit, stated plainly
We are the second column, and we would rather say what that does and does not mean.
It does mean our frames are our own designs with our own model line, that there is a company to complain to, and that the warranty is a real commitment rather than a phrase.
It does not mean we match a big-tech product on everything. We have no fashion licence, no Instagram integration, no retail stores to try before buying, and no prescription lenses out of the box.
