Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics and Blayzer Optics, what Meta says is new
Meta announced Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics (Gen 2) on March 31, 2026 and calls them its first prescription-optimized AI glasses. This guide sets out the fit features Meta names, what the frames cost on its US store, and where the search results leave questions open.

1. What Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics are
They are two Ray-Ban Meta frames, named Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and Scriber Optics (Gen 2) on Meta’s store, that Meta introduced on March 31, 2026 as “our first prescription-optimized AI glasses” (Meta newsroom, checked October 31, 2026). Meta describes the Blayzer Optics as a rectangular design available in Standard and Large sizes and the Scriber Optics as a more rounded frame style, and says both are “built to better serve people who rely on prescription glasses and all-day eyewear.”
Pre-orders opened in the US that day on Meta.com and Ray-Ban.com, from $499. Meta said the glasses “will be available at optical retailers in the US and select international markets starting April 14,” so the search results for this term include retailer listings as well as Meta’s own announcement.
Meta’s store puts “Gen 2” in both names. We do not restate a spec sheet here, because the Optics pages we read gave none. Our Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 guidecovers the standard frames from Meta’s own pages, and we have not confirmed that those figures apply to the Optics styles.
2. What Meta says is new about the fit
The features Meta names in its announcement are about fit rather than electronics: overextension hinges, interchangeable nose pads and optician-adjustable temple tips. Meta says these make the glasses adaptable to your face shape for a tailored fit, and calls the pair “the most comfortable glasses we’ve ever designed.” That is a maker’s claim, and we have not tested it. The post (checked October 31, 2026) does not compare the new styles with the standard Gen 2 frames and does not mention the battery or the camera.
The table sets the two Optics styles beside the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer (Gen 2), included as a standard Gen 2 frame for reference. Every figure is from Meta’s own store or newsroom pages (checked October 31, 2026).

| Sizes shown | Standard and Large | Standard | Standard and Large |
| Fit features Meta names | Overextension hinges, interchangeable nose pads, optician-adjustable temple tips | Same three | The Optics announcement does not describe the Wayfarer’s fit; its store page lists a “High bridge” fit option |

One practical difference is the case. Meta’s page for the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 1, Gen 2) Charging Case says it is “compatible with most Ray-Ban Meta styles (excluding Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics and Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics),” and the Optics Styles Charging Case is a separate $99 product that Meta calls identical to the case provided with an Optics purchase. The Optics case page says it works with “All Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 styles.” If you already own a standard Gen 2 pair, check which case you need before ordering; our Meta glasses charger guide sorts out what fits what.
3. What they cost
Both Optics pages showed $499 on Meta’s US store (checked October 31, 2026), against $379 for the Wayfarer (Gen 2) in Matte Black with Clear Lenses. The $499 sits beside a “Customize lenses” control, and the page text we could read does not describe prescription lens pricing, so treat $499 as the starting figure rather than the final one. Meta’s announcement said “starting at $499” and its store showed $499 on October 31, 2026, which matches the announcement.
Meta’s prescription page (checked October 31, 2026) shows a general “Starting at $324” for AI glasses with Rx lenses and says “HSA/FSA eligible.” The text we could read does not tie that line to a named model, so we do not treat it as an Optics price. EyeBuyDirect’s listing (checked October 31, 2026) shows the Scriber at $499, with lenses chosen in a separate “Select Lenses” step, and says it is available with clear blue-light or Transitions lenses. For where these sit in Meta’s whole range, see our Meta glasses price guide.
4. Who the Optics styles suit
They suit someone who wants Ray-Ban Meta as everyday prescription glasses and likes the idea of a frame an optician can adjust. That is the reader Meta says the pair is built for. Meta describes the temple tips as optician-adjustable, so an optical retailer is the natural place to ask about that adjustment, and Meta said retailers in the US and select international markets would carry the glasses from April 14. Which retailers near you actually stock them is worth a phone call, because we could not confirm a stockist list from Meta’s pages.
- Choose the Blayzer if you want a rectangular frame or need a Large. Large is the size Meta lists for the Blayzer, and for the Wayfarer, but not on the Scriber page we read.
- Choose the Scriberif you want the rounder shape. Check the size guide first: Meta’s page showed one size, and EyeBuyDirect’s listing shows a size labelled Medium.
- Stay with the Wayfarer (Gen 2)if you prefer that shape or the $379 Meta shows for the Matte Black, Clear Lenses version. Meta’s Wayfarer page lists Standard and Large and a high-bridge fit option.
5. Fit and comfort: what the search results do and do not settle
The first page of Google for this term on October 31, 2026 was a mix of retail listings, Ray-Ban’s and Meta’s own pages, Meta’s announcement and Reddit threads, and the order changed between two pulls that day. In one pull EyeBuyDirect’s listing took the first two places, a thread titled “Anyone here tried the scriber optics already?” on r/RaybanMeta came third, Meta’s newsroom post fourth and Target Optical’s listing fifth; further down were other Reddit threads about the Scriber and Blayzer. In the other pull, Ray-Ban’s own product page led, followed by Target Optical, LensCrafters and Meta’s store page.
We do not quote those threads as evidence. Comfort is personal and we cannot verify any poster. What can be checked is the size question: Meta’s store showed one size for the Scriber and two for the Blayzer (checked October 31, 2026).
There is also a gap in the measurements. In the text we could read from Meta’s Blayzer and Scriber store pages (checked October 31, 2026), no weight, battery life or spec sheet was given, so we have not quoted any for either style. EyeBuyDirect’s Scriber listing does mention up to 8 hours of battery life, in its own FAQ (checked October 31, 2026). If frame width decides whether a pair works for you, ask the seller for the measurements in writing before you order lenses.
Before you pay for a pair that costs $499 or more, it is worth doing three things:
- Use Meta’s size guide, and its “Try on virtually” option on the product page.
- Try a pair at an optical retailer if one near you stocks them, and ask what adjusting the temple tips involves.
- Read the seller’s own terms for prescription orders. This guide does not quote them.
6. Other ways to get Ray-Ban Meta with your prescription
The Optics styles are not the only Ray-Ban Meta frames that take prescription lenses. Meta’s prescription page, as read on September 30, 2026, listed the Optics styles, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) and Oakley Meta HSTN at -12.00 to +6.00 SPH+CYL, including progressives. Our Meta glasses prescription guide breaks the ranges down model by model, and clear Meta glasses covers which models are sold with clear lenses.
That leaves a simple choice between the standard Wayfarer shape, which Meta’s page showed at $379 for the Matte Black, Clear Lenses version, and the Optics styles with their adjustable fit features. If you want to see what else exists beyond Meta, our Ray-Ban Meta alternatives guide compares other options.
7. Where OXIVUE fits, and where it does not
OXIVUE sells camera and audio glasses and publishes this guide, so weigh this section accordingly. Our frames are not a substitute for Optics. None of them takes prescription lenses, none has a display, and none runs Meta AI. If your reason for reading about Optics is that you need lenses in your own prescription inside the frame, the Optics styles are built for that and ours are not.
If you do not need prescription lenses in the frame, the M08 is $99 at checkout for one pair. It has an 8 MP camera, open-ear speakers and microphones, weighs about 42 g, lists 7 hours of listening and 4 hours of calls, and comes with your choice of a sun, photochromic or clear lens. Capture starts only with a touch on the temple, and you should ask before you record people. Local law applies to recording.

Frequently asked questions
How much are Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics?
From $499. The Meta US store pages we read showed $499 for the Scriber Optics (Gen 2) and for the Blayzer Optics, and EyeBuyDirect's Scriber listing also showed $499 (all checked October 31, 2026). The Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer (Gen 2) in Matte Black with clear lenses showed $379 on the same store. Meta's Scriber page does not describe prescription lens pricing in the text we could read, so use Meta's lens configurator, or your optician's quote, for your total.
What is the difference between Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics?
Shape and sizes. Meta describes the Blayzer as a rectangular design in Standard and Large, and the Scriber as a more rounded frame. Meta says both feature overextension hinges, interchangeable nose pads and optician-adjustable temple tips. On Meta's US store the Blayzer lists seven frame colours and the Scriber six, and the Scriber page we read showed one size, Standard (checked October 31, 2026).
What are Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Blayzer and Scriber)?
Two Ray-Ban Meta frames that Meta announced on March 31, 2026 and calls its first prescription-optimized AI glasses (Meta newsroom, checked October 31, 2026). Meta's US store names them Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and Scriber Optics (Gen 2), lists both from $499, and sells a separate Optics Styles Charging Case. The Optics pages gave no spec sheet in the text we could read, so we have not carried any Gen 2 figures over to them; the standard frames' published figures are in our Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 guide.
Do Optics use the same charging case as other Ray-Ban Meta glasses?
Not the Gen 1/Gen 2 case, according to Meta's page for that case, which excludes Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics. Meta sells an Optics Styles Charging Case at $99, which it calls identical to the case provided with an Optics purchase (both pages checked October 31, 2026). Our charger guide lists what fits what.
Can Scriber Optics take a prescription?
Yes. Meta's store page is titled “Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics (Gen 2) Rx AI Glasses” and has a “Customize lenses” button, and Meta's prescription page, as read on September 30, 2026, said the Optics styles support nearly all prescriptions, from -12.00 to +6.00 SPH+CYL, including progressives. Model-by-model ranges, ordering routes and the warranty wording are in our Meta glasses prescription guide.
Are Scriber Optics comfortable, and do they come in one size?
Meta says so, but that is a maker's claim we have not tested. Meta calls them the most comfortable glasses it has ever designed. On Meta's US store the Scriber page showed one size, Standard, and the Blayzer page showed Standard and Large (checked October 31, 2026). Reddit threads about the Scriber Optics appeared in the results for this search that day, but we do not quote them. If size matters, use Meta's size guide and virtual try-on, or try a pair at an optical retailer first.
Does OXIVUE make a prescription version?
No. None of our frames take prescription lenses, none has a display, and none runs Meta AI. If you need lenses in your own prescription inside the frame, the Optics styles are built for that and ours are not. The OXIVUE M08 is $99 at checkout for one pair and suits someone who does not need prescription lenses in the frame.

What these frames won’t do
- No prescription lenses yet, on any model. If you need vision correction all day, these can't replace your glasses.
- No display. Nothing appears in your view; you hear answers and capture photos and video.
- Open-ear speakers leak some sound at high volume and won't block out a loud train or a windy road the way sealed earbuds do.
- Translation, music, calls and the assistant need your phone nearby and connected. Translation pauses after each sentence, and only you hear the translated audio; the other person reads the reply on your phone.
- M08: no published water rating, so keep it out of heavy rain and spray.
Check these before you order: see the warranty and refund policy.
