Meta glasses prescription: which models, which ranges, how to order.

Meta now sells most of its AI glasses with prescription lenses, but the supported range, the ordering route and what happens to the warranty differ from one line to the next. This guide pulls each figure from Meta's own pages, explains how to order and how to add lenses later, and says plainly where OXIVUE stands: no prescription lenses today.

Which Meta glasses take prescription lenses?

Almost all of them. Filtering Meta’s store for prescription on September 30, 2026 returned the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer in all three generations, the Gen 3 Aviator and Zena, the Headliner, Skyler, Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics; the Oakley Meta HSTN; Meta Fury, Adventurer, Nova, Capri and Starfire; the Ray-Ban Meta Audio styles; and Meta Ray-Ban Display. The one camera model missing is the Oakley Meta Vanguard, and its product page is explicit: “Rx lenses are not available for Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses.”

Meta also makes a pair specifically for prescription wearers. In March 2026 it introduced Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics (Gen 2), which it calls its “first prescription-optimized AI glasses”, from $499, with over-extension hinges, interchangeable nose pads and temple tips an optician can adjust. We have not tested any of Meta’s glasses; everything here comes from Meta’s own pages.

Meta glasses prescription range by model

The range is quoted as total power (sphere plus cylinder). If your prescription sits inside it, Meta says the lens can be made, including astigmatism, and progressives where noted.

ModelPrescription range (SPH + CYL)ProgressivesAdd lenses later?Frame from

Oakley Meta VanguardNot available——$499
OXIVUE M08 and familyNot available—No (lens swaps not covered)$149

Two details are easy to miss. The Gen 3 Aviator’s range on its product page is narrower than the Gen 3 Wayfarer’s, so a strong prescription may rule out the pilot shape even though the generation is the same. And Meta says Meta Glasses with prescription lenses can be bought from Meta.com in the US only. If you are choosing by fit as well as prescription, our men’s Ray-Ban Meta sizing guidelists each style’s lens width, bridge and temple length.

How to order prescription Meta glasses, step by step

Meta describes the same basic route for Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta HSTN and Meta Glasses:

  1. Get a current prescription. Meta asks for a valid prescription and notes they typically expire one to two years after issue, depending on your state.
  2. Find your pupillary distance (PD). It may be on your prescription; Meta.com gives measuring instructions at checkout if not.
  3. Pick a prescription-ready frameon Meta.com, or Ray-Ban.com for Ray-Ban Meta, and choose the prescription option (Meta calls it “Add prescription” on Ray-Ban Meta and “Customize prescription lenses” on Oakley Meta HSTN).
  4. Enter your prescription and choose lens type, thickness and coating.
  5. Check out. Meta accepts FSA and HSA cards; for vision insurance it says the purchase may qualify for out-of-network reimbursement, to be confirmed with your insurer.

Alternatively, Meta says you can buy a complete pair from a certified Ray-Ban retailer or an EssilorLuxottica optical partner. On timing, Meta says prescription orders for Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley HSTN and Meta Glasses placed on Meta.com typically take up to 14 days, and Meta Ray-Ban Display orders 5 to 8 weeks, because the prescription is built into the display lens.

How much are prescription Meta glasses?

Meta’s prescription page shows “AI glasses with Rx lenses” starting at $324 (checked September 30, 2026). The only model with a published flat add-on is Meta Ray-Ban Display: $200 extra, $999 in total with prescription lenses. For the rest, Meta prices the lenses inside its configurator, and the total moves with your choices: a thinner high-index lens for a strong prescription, Transitions® or sun tints, premium anti-reflective coatings or branded lenses. Frame prices start at $249 for Meta Adventurer, $379 for Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, $399 for Oakley Meta HSTN, $449 for Gen 3 and $499 for the Optics styles. For a breakdown of every model’s base price, see our Meta glasses price guide.

Can I add prescription lenses to my Meta glasses after purchase?

On most models, yes. Meta’s answers, model by model:

  • Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN: yes. Meta says to bring your glasses to any certified retailer to have Rx lenses added.
  • Meta Glasses (Fury, Adventurer, Starfire):yes, at one of Meta’s recommended optical partners or any optician you choose. Meta publishes a guide for opticians.
  • Meta Ray-Ban Display: no. The prescription is embedded in the display lens during manufacturing, so it cannot be changed, existing lenses cannot be reused, and a new prescription means a new pair.
  • Oakley Meta Vanguard: no prescription option at all.

If you already own a pair with clear lenses and want to understand the lens options before you add a prescription, our clear Meta glasses guide covers which models ship with clear lenses.

Do third-party prescription lenses affect the Meta warranty?

Meta words this differently for each line, so it is worth reading the exact phrasing:

  • Meta Glasses:“Having prescription lenses installed by a professional will not void the warranty,” and “if your frame is damaged during the prescription lens installation process, your Meta glasses are eligible for a free frame replacement.”
  • Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta:Meta recommends ordering a complete pair from Meta.com or a certified retailer, and says that if lenses were added outside certified retailers you should “review the warranty terms for any applicable restrictions.” These glasses are made by EssilorLuxottica, so warranty claims go to Ray-Ban or Oakley.
  • Generally:Meta’s help centre says warranties typically do not cover “damage from misuse or unauthorized modifications.”

In short: use a certified retailer for Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta lenses if you want to avoid an argument later. Who handles which claim, and for how long, is set out in our Meta glasses warranty guide.

Ray-Ban Meta prescription lenses: progressives, Transitions and thickness

Meta lists four lens types for prescription orders (clear, blue-violet light filter, sunglasses and Transitions®), says single vision, progressives and Transitions® are available on every Gen 3 style, and offers three lens materials by strength:

  • Standard (1.50 index plastic): for prescriptions between +2.00 and -2.00.
  • Thin (1.59 index polycarbonate): between +4.00 and -4.00.
  • Extra-thin (1.67 index): between +6.00 and -12.00.

Every prescription lens includes an anti-reflective, scratch-resistant coating, with a premium coating as an upgrade. Meta Ray-Ban Display is again the exception: single vision only, in clear-to-gray Transitions® polycarbonate with a premium anti-reflective coating, and no progressives.

Prescription and OXIVUE: what we offer, honestly

OXIVUE frames do not take prescription lenses today, and we would rather say so at the top of the search than have you discover it after delivery. The M08 ($149), M02C ($159) and M08C ($169) ship with non-prescription sunglasses, photochromic or clear lenses; the M14 ($199) has a fixed one-piece shield. Prescription compatibility is on our roadmap with no committed date, as our fit guide says.

Please do not have an optician cut prescription lenses into an OXIVUE frame: our warrantylists “third-party lens swaps” under what is not covered by the 2-year frame warranty. The workaround that works is contact lenses; the frames sit over them as sunglasses do. Our brand-agnostic prescription smart glasses guide ranks the other routes, and every OXIVUE spec is on the comparison page.

If you wear contacts, what you get for the money is an 8 MP camera, open-ear audio and translation through the free HeyCyan app (40+ languages on the M08 family, 139 on the M14), which needs a free sign-up but no Meta or social-media account and no subscription. No OXIVUE lens has a display.

Bottom line

If you need your prescription in the frame, buy a prescription-ready Meta style: Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, Gen 3 Wayfarer, the Optics styles or Oakley Meta HSTN cover -12.00 to +6.00; Meta Glasses cover -12.00 to +2.25; Meta Ray-Ban Display covers -4.00 to +4.00 single vision. Skip the Oakley Meta Vanguard. If you wear contact lenses and want the camera and audio for less, the OXIVUE M08 at $149 is the place to start, with free US shipping from $99, delivery in 5–9 business days and a 2-year frame warranty.

Frequently asked questions

Can Meta glasses be any prescription?

Nearly any, on most models. Meta says Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, the Ray-Ban Meta Optics styles and Oakley Meta HSTN support -12.00 to +6.00 (SPH + CYL), including astigmatism and progressives. Meta Fury, Adventurer and Starfire support -12.00 to +2.25. The narrower ranges are the Gen 3 Aviator (-6.00 to +4.00) and Meta Ray-Ban Display (-4.00 to +4.00, single vision only). The Oakley Meta Vanguard takes no prescription.

How much are Meta glasses with a prescription?

Meta's prescription page shows AI glasses with Rx lenses starting at $324 (checked September 30, 2026). Meta Ray-Ban Display costs $200 extra with a prescription, $999 in total. For other models Meta prices the lenses in its configurator rather than publishing a flat add-on, and options such as thinner high-index lenses, Transitions® or premium anti-reflective coatings change the total.

Can I get prescription lenses for my Meta glasses?

On most models, yes, even after purchase. Meta says Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN owners can take their glasses to any certified retailer to have Rx lenses added, and Meta Glasses owners (Fury, Adventurer, Starfire) can use any optician. Meta Ray-Ban Display cannot be changed after purchase, and the Oakley Meta Vanguard has no prescription option.

How do I get Meta prescription glasses?

Choose a prescription-ready frame on Meta.com or Ray-Ban.com, select the prescription option, enter your prescription and pupillary distance (PD), choose lens type and thickness, and check out. You can also buy a complete pair from a certified Ray-Ban retailer or EssilorLuxottica optical partner. Meta says Meta.com orders typically arrive within 14 days, or 5 to 8 weeks for Meta Ray-Ban Display.

Does putting my own prescription lenses in Meta glasses void the warranty?

It depends on the line. For Meta Glasses (Fury, Adventurer, Starfire), Meta's product pages say having prescription lenses installed by a professional will not void the warranty, and a frame damaged during installation is eligible for a free replacement. For Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta, Meta advises that if lenses were added outside certified retailers you should review the warranty terms for restrictions.

Do Ray-Ban Meta glasses come in progressive lenses?

Yes. Meta lists progressives as available for Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, the Optics styles, every Gen 3 style, Oakley Meta HSTN and Meta Glasses. Meta Ray-Ban Display is the exception: single vision only.

Do OXIVUE smart glasses come with prescription lenses?

No. OXIVUE frames ship with non-prescription lenses only: sunglasses, photochromic or clear on the M08 ($149), M02C ($159) and M08C ($169), and a fixed shield on the M14 ($199). Prescription is on our roadmap with no committed date. Third-party lens swaps are not covered by the OXIVUE warranty, so the practical route today is contact lenses.
