Meta glasses Gen 2: price, specs, styles and whether it’s still worth it.
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) is no longer Meta's newest pair, but it is still on sale and still the cheapest way into a current Ray-Ban Meta. This page gathers everything Meta publishes about it: the price of every style and lens, the full spec sheet, battery and video, sizes, what Gen 3 changed, and who should still buy it. We have not tested Gen 2; every Meta number is from Meta's own pages, checked September 30, 2026.

Meta glasses Gen 2 price, by style and lens
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) launched on September 17, 2025 at $379, according to Meta’s announcement, and a year later that is still its starting price. What moves the price is the lens and the frame family, not the generation. Here is what Meta’s US store listed on September 30, 2026:
| Gen 2 style | Lens | Meta price | Colours on Meta’s store |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wayfarer | Clear or sun | $379 | 7 |
| Wayfarer | Polarized | From $409 | — |
| Wayfarer | Transitions | From $459 | — |
| Skyler | Green sun | $379 | 8 |
| Headliner | Transitions | $459 (from $379 with standard lenses) | 7 |
| Blayzer Optics / Scriber Optics | Optical frames | From $499 | 7 / 6 |
Source: Meta’s US store and Gen 2 product pages, checked September 30, 2026. Prescription lenses are priced on top of the frame.
So the honest answer to “how much is Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2” is $379 for the cheapest configuration and around $409 to $459 for the lenses many people actually want outdoors. Meta also shows Affirm monthly financing next to every price, which spreads the cost rather than lowering it. The full price list across every Meta model, Gen 1 to the Display, is in our Meta glasses price guide.

Gen 2 works through the Meta AI app, which is where photos land and where settings live, and Meta AI is the voice assistant on the glasses. Recording rules differ by place, so check local law before filming in shared spaces. For what each of these features does day to day, see what Meta glasses do.
Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 battery life and 3K video
Battery was the headline of Gen 2. Meta rates it at up to 8 hours on a single charge, which its FAQ describes as twice the battery life of Gen 1, plus up to 48 extra hours from a fully charged case. A 20-minute top-up takes the glasses to 50%. As with every battery figure, heavy video recording and livestreaming run it down much faster than music or occasional photos; Meta does not publish a separate figure for continuous recording. Our Meta glasses battery life guide covers that in detail.
The second upgrade was video. Gen 2 records 3K Ultra HD at 30 fps, which Meta pitches as sharper detail than Gen 1, alongside 1080p at up to 60 fps and 720p slow motion at 120 fps. Meta does not publish the pixel dimensions of its 3K mode, and 3K is not 4K. If you want to understand what those labels mean in pixels, our 4K camera glasses explainer walks through it.
Gen 2 styles, sizes and fit
Gen 2 comes in three everyday shapes and two optical frames. Sizes and weights differ more than people expect, so it is worth checking the numbers against a pair you already wear.
| Style | Sizes / fit | Lens width / bridge / temple | Frame weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wayfarer (Gen 2) | Standard and Large | 50 / 22 / 150 mm (Standard) · 53 / 22 / 155 mm (Large) | 51 g / 53 g |
| Skyler (Gen 2) | One size listed | 52 / 20 / 150 mm | 53 g |
| Headliner (Gen 2) | Low-bridge and high-bridge fits | 51 / 23 / 150 mm (low) · 50 / 23 / 150 mm (high) | 53 g / 51 g |
| Blayzer Optics, Scriber Optics | Optical frames, from $499 | See Meta’s product page | See Meta’s product page |
From the Gen 2 Wayfarer, Skyler and Headliner pages on meta.com, checked September 30, 2026.
The Wayfarer is the classic square shape; our Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer guide covers its sizes and colours across all three generations. The Skyler is the softer cat-eye and is only in Gen 1 and Gen 2 (Gen 3 replaced it with the Zena); see our Skyler Meta glasses guide. The Headliner is a rounder shape with a low-bridge option for flatter nose bridges.
What’s the difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2?
Meta’s own answer is two things: 3K video and twice the battery. Line by line, the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Wayfarer spec sheets show up to 8 hours instead of 4, up to 48 hours from the case instead of 36, and a 3K mode Gen 1 does not have. The 12 MP camera, the five microphones, Bluetooth 5.3 and the frame dimensions are the same, and Gen 2 is about 3 g heavier. Gen 1 is still listed on Meta’s store at $224, though every Gen 1 colour we checked was out of stock; see our Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1 guide, and the full side-by-side is in Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 vs Gen 1.
What Gen 3 changed (and what it didn’t)
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) arrived on September 23, 2026 from $449. On Meta’s spec sheets the camera is unchanged: the same 12 MP ultra-wide and the same 3K, 1080p and 720p modes. What changed is up to 9 hours of battery instead of 8, a case that adds up to 50 hours instead of 48, six microphones instead of five, a customizable action button, slightly slimmer temples, and two new shapes, the Aviator and the Zena. Gen 3 also asks for iOS 17 or later, against iOS 15.2 for Gen 2. Meta’s Gen 2 pages now carry a “For newer styles and tech: Shop Gen 3” link, but Gen 2 remains on sale at $379. Full details are in our Meta glasses Gen 3 guide.
Is Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 still worth buying now Gen 3 is out?
For most people choosing a Ray-Ban Meta today, yes, with a few exceptions:
- You want a Wayfarer, Skyler or Headliner: Gen 2 is the better value. You give up roughly one hour of battery, one microphone and the action button, and keep $70.
- You want an Aviator or Zena: those shapes are Gen 3 only, so the choice is made for you.
- You use an older iPhone: Gen 2 supports iOS 15.2 and later; Gen 3 needs iOS 17. That alone can decide it.
- You are comparing with Gen 1 at $224: only if you can find one in stock, and only if 4 hours of battery and 1080p video are enough. For most buyers the extra $155 for Gen 2 buys the two things people complain about most on Gen 1.
- You do not care about Meta AI or the Ray-Ban frame: you may be paying for things you will not use. See the next section.
Cheaper than Gen 2: camera glasses under $200
Inside Meta’s own range, the cheaper routes are Gen 1 while stock lasts, refurbished pairs and the Meta Adventurer; our cheap Meta glasses guide lists them. Outside Meta, camera-and-audio glasses start well under $200, and we make some of them, so weigh this accordingly. OXIVUE frames give up the Ray-Ban name, Meta AI, prescription lenses and 3K video, and none has a display. They keep an 8 MP camera, open-ear audio, calls and two-way translation through the free HeyCyan app, with no Meta or social-media account and no subscription.
| Glasses | Price | Camera | Battery (listening) | Translation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 | From $379 | 12 MP, 3K video | Up to 8 h (Meta’s rating) | 20 languages |
| OXIVUE M08 | $149 | 8 MP | 7 h | 40+ languages |
| OXIVUE M02C | $159 | 8 MP, Sony 219, dual stabilization | Not separately published | 40+ languages |
| OXIVUE M08C | $169 | 8 MP, Sony IMX219 | 7 h | 40+ languages |
| OXIVUE M14 | $199 | 8 MP Sony IMX219, 1080p 30 fps EIS | 4 h (7 h calls) | 139 languages |
OXIVUE list prices; one pair is currently $50 off at checkout, applied automatically. With translation, only the wearer hears the rendered language through the open-ear speakers. Every spec sits side by side on our comparison page, and a ranked list of non-Meta options is in Ray-Ban Meta alternatives.
Bottom line
Meta glasses Gen 2 are still on sale from $379, with a 12 MP camera, 3K video, five microphones and up to 8 hours of battery, in the Wayfarer, Skyler and Headliner shapes. Now that Gen 3 costs $449 and keeps the same camera, Gen 2 is the value pick in Meta’s range unless you want an Aviator or Zena. If what you want is hands-free photos, open-ear audio and translation without the Ray-Ban price or a Meta account, start with the OXIVUE M08 at $149, or the M02C at $159for the lightest everyday frame, with free US shipping from $99, delivery in 5–9 business days and a 2-year warranty on the frame.

What's the difference between Meta Ray-Ban Gen 1 and Gen 2?
Meta's own answer: Gen 2 adds 3K Ultra HD video (Gen 1 tops out at 1080p) and up to 8 hours of battery on a charge, twice Gen 1's 4 hours. The case adds up to 48 hours instead of 36. Gen 3 also needs iOS 17 or later on iPhone.
Are the Gen 2 Meta glasses worth it?
If you want the Ray-Ban look, Meta AI and prescription lenses, Gen 2 at $379 is the value pick in Meta's range now that Gen 3 is out: you give up about an hour of battery, one microphone and the action button, and save $70. If you mainly want a camera, open-ear audio and translation, camera glasses under $200 cover that for less.
When did the 2nd gen Ray-Ban Meta come out?

Can I get Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 with prescription lenses?
Yes. Meta lists Gen 2 as prescription-ready for -12.00 to +6.00 total power, including astigmatism and progressives, ordered through the Add prescription option on meta.com. Prescription lenses cost more than the base price. OXIVUE frames, by contrast, do not take prescription lenses.
