Ray-Ban Meta lens replacement, and Oakley Meta Vanguard and HSTN lenses

Scratched a lens, or want a different tint on the Meta glasses you already own? Whether you can swap it yourself depends on the model: two Oakley Meta frames are designed for it, Ray-Ban Meta is not. Here is what each model allows, who does the work, what the official lenses cost, and what it means for your warranty.

1. Can the lenses be replaced? Model by model

Yes on the two Oakley Meta models, and only through a retailer or a third party on Ray-Ban Meta. Meta’s own help article on lens options puts it plainly: the Oakley Meta Vanguard and Oakley Meta HSTN “are the only AI glasses designed for user lens replacement” (checked October 31, 2026). For Ray-Ban Meta, the same article says lens type and colour are selected when you order the glasses. The table sets out what each route looks like today.

2. Ray-Ban Meta: who replaces the lenses

No official replacement lens is sold for Ray-Ban Meta: Meta’s accessory store listed lenses only for the two Oakley models when we checked on October 31, 2026. That leaves three routes, starting with the one closest to what the warranty asks for.

  • A participating certified retailer.Meta’s prescription help article says you can add prescription lenses to Ray-Ban Meta glasses at participating certified retailers. If your lens is scratched rather than your prescription out of date, ask the same retailer whether they fit plain or tinted replacement lenses and what it costs.
  • An independent optician or mail-in lens lab. Lens labs selling lenses cut for Ray-Ban Meta frames rank for this search, and you can ask an optician to fit them. The open question is the warranty, covered below. For ordering a prescription and the ranges Meta supports, our Meta glasses prescription guide goes through it step by step.
  • Third-party lenses you fit yourself.Google’s results for this search include lens shops, Amazon listings and YouTube tutorials. We have not tested any of them. Owner threads that rank alongside them, on Reddit’s r/RaybanMeta and r/RayBanStories, describe the lens as a tight fit in a finely cut groove and warn that forcing it can damage the frame.

If you go the third-party route, buy lenses cut for your exact frame style and size, power the glasses off first, and work slowly over a soft surface. If what you really want is a different tint rather than a fix, our guides to Ray-Ban Meta Transitions lenses and clear Meta glasses compare buying that lens from the start.

3. Oakley Meta HSTN: lenses from $85 that you click in yourself

The Oakley Meta HSTN takes replacement lenses from $85 on meta.com (checked October 31, 2026). Meta lists eight options. We priced Prizm Ruby and Clear at $85, Prizm Black Polarized at $138 and Transitions Brown at $165; the others are Prizm Dark Golf, Prizm Deep Water Polarized, Transitions Amethyst and Transitions Grey. Each comes with a lens pouch.

Meta’s help article “How to replace lenses on AI glasses” gives the HSTN steps:

  • Work over a clean, soft surface.
  • Put your thumbs near the bottom of the lens and push firmly and evenly to pop it out of the front of the frame.
  • Clean the lens grooves before fitting the new lens.
  • Line the new lens up with the front of the frame, starting near the temple arm.
  • Push gently round the edges until it clicks in, and check there are no gaps.

More on the frame itself, including its lens line-up when new, is in our Oakley Meta HSTN guide.

4. Oakley Meta Vanguard: interchangeable Prizm lenses

Oakley Meta Vanguard replacement lenses start at $85 on meta.com (checked October 31, 2026), and Meta says the accessory lenses fit any Oakley Meta Vanguard. Nine tints are listed: Prizm Dark Golf, Rose Gold, Road, 24K, Sapphire, Black and Low Light, plus Prizm Transitions Ember and Transitions Cobalt. The two Transitions lenses were listed at $165 with a “Notify me” button instead of “Add to bag”, so they could not be ordered that day.

Meta’s help article on replacing lenses mentions the Vanguard only in an image caption and writes out the steps for the HSTN. Oakley’s own video, “How to replace your Oakley Meta Vanguard lens”, appears in Google’s video results for this search and is the place to start. Prices, tints and stock change, so check the accessory page on the day you order. For the rest of the frame, see our Oakley Meta Vanguard guide.

5. What a lens swap means for the warranty

A scratched lens is usually not a warranty repair. Meta’s warranty-claim article says Ray-Ban Meta claims are filed through the Ray-Ban aftersales portal and Oakley Meta claims through Oakley’s, “not through Meta”, and that the warranty typically does not cover “Accidental damage (drops, water damage, scratches)” or “Damage from misuse or unauthorized modifications” (checked October 31, 2026).

Luxottica’s Ray-Ban Meta warranty is stricter on lens work. The version published on Ray-Ban’s India site (the US terms were not reachable for us) says the warranty is “not applicable to any lens scratches”, that lens installation or replacement “should be conducted by Luxottica or a Luxottica authorized dealer”, and that damage from unauthorized lens installation, replacement or alteration is not covered. The same page sets the term at one year, or two in the EU and EFTA, so check the terms for the country where you bought your pair.

  • Meta Warranty Plus, Meta’s paid extended plan, lists “Scratched or chipped lenses or frames” among what it covers. It is sold in the US through meta.com (and in Japan), and for Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta it must be bought with the glasses. Meta lists the plan price and the per-claim service fee as $54.99 and $60 for Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, $59.99 and $60 for the HSTN, and $69.99 and $75 for the Vanguard.
  • Meta’s Rx Lens Swap program, which protects the frame while a professional fits prescription lenses, applies to Meta’s own-brand glasses only. Its terms say Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Meta Ray-Ban Display “are not subject to the Rx Lens Swap program”.

Our Meta glasses warranty guide covers claims, Warranty Plus and repairs in more detail.

6. What you can’t do

  • Buy an official Ray-Ban Meta lens from Meta. None was listed on October 31, 2026; the lens is chosen when you order, or fitted later by a retailer or optician.
  • Count on the standard warranty for scratches. Meta says it typically excludes them, and Warranty Plus cannot be added later for Ray-Ban Meta or Oakley Meta.
  • Treat an Oakley replacement lens as a prescription lens. The lenses on Meta’s accessory pages are sold by tint. Meta’s lens-options article says prescription lenses are available for both Oakley models, so ask Meta or Oakley how they are ordered before you buy.
  • Order Vanguard Transitions lenses on demand. Both were showing “Notify me” on October 31, 2026.

Before you pay for a lens, make sure the mark is a scratch and not a smear: our guide to cleaning Meta glasses covers what is safe to use on the lenses.

7. If you’re buying new glasses: choose the lens once

OXIVUE frames are not a Meta replacement, and OXIVUE does not sell spare lenses. On the M08 ($99 at checkout), the M02C ($109) and the M08C ($119) you choose Sunglasses, Photochromic or Clear when you order, so pick the one you will wear most. The photochromic lens darkens in UV light and turns close to clear indoors. The M14 ($149 at checkout) has a fixed one-piece shield in four colourways (Nero, Azzurro, Ghiaccio and Tramonto) that cannot be swapped.

What they do: an 8 MP camera that captures only when you touch the temple, open-ear speakers and microphones for calls and music, and translation of 40+ languages through the free companion app on the M08, M02C and M08C. What they don’t: no display, no prescription lenses and no Meta AI; they use their own companion app instead of the Meta AI app. If you need your prescription in the frame, Meta’s retailer route above is the one to use.

Shipping, refunds and warranty. Free shipping from $99. US orders typically arrive in 5–9 business days; international orders take 9–14 business days after shipment, and import VAT or duties outside the US are paid by the recipient. No refunds except transit damage (replaced or refunded); faults are repaired or replaced under the 2-year warranty; change of mind and unmet expectations are not refundable. None of our frames take prescription lenses. Compare every model on the comparison page or read the warranty.

Frequently asked questions

Can you replace the lenses on Ray-Ban Meta glasses?

Yes, but not as a DIY swap Meta supports. Meta's help center says the Oakley Meta HSTN and Vanguard are the only AI glasses designed for user lens replacement, and its accessory store listed no Ray-Ban Meta replacement lens when we checked on October 31, 2026. Prescription lenses can be added at participating certified retailers. Third-party lenses cut for Ray-Ban Meta frames exist, but Luxottica's warranty text excludes damage from unauthorized lens installation.

How much are Oakley Meta Vanguard replacement lenses?

From $85 on meta.com (checked October 31, 2026). The Prizm Transitions Ember and Prizm Transitions Cobalt lenses were listed at $165 and showed a Notify me button, meaning they could not be ordered that day. Each comes with a lens pouch, and Meta lists nine tints that fit any Oakley Meta Vanguard.

How much are Oakley Meta HSTN replacement lenses?

From $85 on meta.com (checked October 31, 2026), depending on the tint. Prizm Ruby and Clear were $85, Prizm Black Polarized was $138, and Transitions Brown was $165; check the page for the other tints. Meta's help center describes the HSTN as designed for user lens replacement and publishes the steps: pop the lens out of the front of the frame, clean the groove, then press the new lens in until it clicks.

Does replacing the lenses void the warranty on Meta glasses?

It can affect your cover. Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta warranty claims go to Ray-Ban or Oakley, not Meta, and Meta says the standard warranty typically excludes scratches and damage from unauthorized modifications. Luxottica's Ray-Ban Meta warranty text says lens installation should be done by Luxottica or an authorized dealer and does not cover damage from unauthorized lens work. Fitting Oakley's own replacement lenses on the HSTN or Vanguard is the route Meta describes.

Is it cheaper to replace the lenses or buy new Meta glasses?

Replacing is far cheaper on Oakley Meta. Replacement lenses started at $85 on meta.com (checked October 31, 2026), with the Transitions lenses we priced at $165, against $499 for an Oakley Meta Vanguard and from $399 for Oakley Meta glasses. For Ray-Ban Meta there is no official lens price to compare, so get a quote from a certified retailer; a Gen 2 Wayfarer with clear lenses was $379.

Where can I get Ray-Ban Meta lenses replaced near me?

At a participating certified retailer, which is the route Meta names for adding prescription lenses to Ray-Ban Meta glasses after purchase. Call ahead and ask whether they fit non-prescription replacement lenses too, what it costs, and whether the work keeps your warranty intact. Mail-in lens labs selling lenses cut for Ray-Ban Meta frames also rank for this search, but check the warranty position before you hand the frame to anyone else.

Can you buy replacement lenses for OXIVUE glasses?

No. OXIVUE does not sell spare lenses. On the M08, M02C and M08C you choose Sunglasses, Photochromic or Clear when you order, so pick the lens you will wear most; the photochromic lens darkens in UV and turns close to clear indoors. The M14 has a fixed one-piece shield in four colourways that cannot be swapped. None of the frames take prescription lenses or have a display.

What these frames won’t do

  • No prescription lenses yet, on any model. If you need vision correction all day, these can't replace your glasses.
  • No display. Nothing appears in your view; you hear answers and capture photos and video.
  • Open-ear speakers leak some sound at high volume and won't block out a loud train or a windy road the way sealed earbuds do.
  • Translation, music, calls and the assistant need your phone nearby and connected. Translation pauses after each sentence, and only you hear the translated audio; the other person reads the reply on your phone.
  • M08: no published water rating, so keep it out of heavy rain and spray.
  • M02C: IP65 resists dust and water jets, not immersion. No swimming, no saltwater.

Check these before you order: see the warranty and refund policy.
