Oakley Meta HSTN smart glasses: price, lenses, specs and fit.
The HSTN is the everyday model in the Oakley Meta range, and the one that takes prescription lenses. Every Oakley and Meta figure here was read off meta.com or oakley.com on September 30, 2026: the price of each lens, the spec sheet, the measurements and the prescription range. We have not tested the HSTN ourselves. After that, what cheaper camera glasses do and do not match.

What Oakley Meta HSTN glasses are for
Oakley Meta is the sport line in Meta’s camera-glasses family, made with Oakley, which belongs to EssilorLuxottica. It has two models. The Oakley Meta HSTN arrived first, announced by Meta in June 2025 with the collection starting at $399. The wrap-around Vanguard followed for harder training; see our Oakley Meta Vanguard guide for that one.
Meta says the HSTN is “designed for athletes and fans alike.” Like the rest of Meta’s glasses, it pairs with the Meta AI app and does four things: hands-free photos and video from a 12 MP camera, music and calls through open-ear speakers, voice answers from Meta AI when you say “Hey Meta,” and workout stats through Garmin and Strava. There is no display in the lens. For the whole range in one place, see our Oakley Meta glasses guide.
Oakley Meta HSTN price by lens
Meta’s shop page lists the HSTN in 8 colours “From $399.” We opened all eight configurations on meta.com on September 30, 2026. The price is set by the lens type, not the frame colour.
| Lens type | Configurations (frame / lens) | Price on meta.com |
|---|---|---|
| Clear | Black / Clear | $399 |
| Prizm | Warm Grey / Prizm Ruby · Black / Prizm Dark Golf | $399 |
| Prizm Polarized | Black / Prizm Black Polarized · Brown Smoke / Prizm Deep Water Polarized | $449 |
| Transitions | Light Curry / Clear to Brown · Clear / Clear to Grey · Black / Clear to Amethyst | $479 |
The charging case comes in the box. On the same page, a spare HSTN charging case cost $139 and a replacement Prizm Ruby lens $85, and Affirm financing on the $399 pairs started at $33.25 a month. Prescription lenses are priced on top when you configure them. Meta launched a limited-edition HSTN at $499 in 2025, so you may still see that price on resale listings. For every Meta model’s price in one table, see our Meta glasses price guide.
Clear, Prizm, Polarized or Transitions: which HSTN lens?
The four lens types are the main decision once you have chosen the HSTN. Here is what each is for, based on how Meta and Oakley describe them:
- Clear ($399). For indoor and evening wear, or as the base for prescription lenses. No tint.
- Prizm ($399).Oakley’s contrast-enhancing tints. Ruby is the everyday sun tint in the range; Dark Golf is named for the course. See smart glasses for golf.
- Prizm Polarized ($449).Adds glare reduction off water, roads and snow. Deep Water, as the name suggests, is aimed at time on the water. Only the HSTN offers polarized lenses in Oakley Meta; Meta says the Vanguard’s are not polarized.
- Transitions ($479). Clear indoors, darker outdoors, in brown, grey or amethyst. The most flexible choice if you want one pair for the whole day.

Meta notes that many features work offline but Meta AI needs an internet connection, which in practice means your phone’s data. For how the battery holds up when you record a lot, see how long Meta glasses can record.
Oakley Meta HSTN size, fit and prescription range
The HSTN comes in a single size with two fits, Standard and High bridge, which are Meta’s two nose-bridge options for the same frame. Meta lists the shape as round, in an injected frame, and Oakley adds that it has straight temple arms for a secure fit.
- Measurements: 49 mm lens width, 43 mm lens height, 23 mm bridge, 145 mm temples, 133 mm hinge to hinge.
- Prescription on meta.com:-12.00 to +6.00 total power, including astigmatism and progressives. Meta says you order it by choosing “Customize prescription lenses” on the frame page.
- Prescription on oakley.com:Oakley Authentic Prescription lists an eligible range of -6.00 to +4.00, narrower than Meta’s.
That prescription support is the HSTN’s clearest advantage over the Vanguard, which takes none, and over every OXIVUE frame. If you need corrective lenses in camera glasses, our prescription smart glasses guide lists the options.
Is the HSTN good for sport? IPX4, Garmin and Strava
The HSTN links to Strava from the Meta AI app and to compatible Garmin devices (sold separately) through the Garmin Connect IQ app, the same integrations as the Vanguard. Its IPX4 rating covers splashes, rain and sweat; Meta says it is not designed for submersion, and the charging case is not water-resistant. For runs, golf, hiking and gym sessions that is enough. For heavy rain, long fast descents or a frame that stays put at speed, Meta built the Vanguard: IP67, a 122° centred camera and speakers it says are 6 dB louder. Our Oakley Meta vs Ray-Ban Meta comparison covers how both Oakley models differ from Meta’s fashion frames.
Is it worth buying Oakley Meta HSTN glasses?
The HSTN makes sense if you want three things together: Meta AI, a 12 MP camera with 3K video, and an Oakley frame that takes your prescription. For that buyer, $399 is the lowest price in Oakley Meta and $100 below the Vanguard. The Prizm Polarized and Transitions options make it one of the few camera glasses that can double as proper sunglasses and everyday glasses.
It is harder to justify if you mainly want hands-free photos, music and calls, which cheaper camera glasses also do; if 53 g is heavier than you like; or if you would rather not run your glasses through a Meta account. On the camera: rules on filming people vary by place, so it is good practice to tell people when you are recording.
Oakley Meta HSTN alternatives under $200
If the price is the sticking point, OXIVUE makes four camera glasses under $200. Each has an 8 MP camera, open-ear audio, calls and live translation through the free HeyCyan app, which needs a free sign-up but no Meta or social-media account and no subscription. Only you hear translations, through the open-ear speakers. The figures below come from our own product data.
| Frame | Price | Weight | Water rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OXIVUE M08 | $149 | ~42 g | Not listed | Lowest price; 40+ languages; sun, photochromic or clear lens |
| OXIVUE M02C | $159 | ~41 g | IP65 | “Hey Cyan” visual AI, magnetic charging |
| OXIVUE M08C | $169 | ~42 g | Not listed | Gold or silver metal trim for a dressier look |
| OXIVUE M14 | $199 | 52 g | IPX4 | Sport wrap shield, 139 languages, stabilised 1080p |
What you give up, plainly: Meta AI, Garmin and Strava, the 12 MP camera and 3K video, polarized Prizm lenses and, most importantly for many HSTN buyers, prescription lenses. No OXIVUE frame takes them, and none has a display. OXIVUE does not offer refunds except for damage in transit; faults after delivery are covered by a 2-year warranty on eyewear frames through repair or replacement. US orders arrive in 5–9 business days, international orders in 9–14 business days after shipment, and shipping is free from $99. Every spec is on the comparison page, and our Oakley Meta HSTN alternatives guide goes further on other brands.
Bottom line
Oakley Meta HSTN smart glasses cost $399 to $479 on meta.com depending on the lens, with a 12 MP camera, 3K video, up to 8 hours of battery, IPX4, 53 g and a prescription range of -12.00 to +6.00. If you need a prescription, the HSTN is the Oakley Meta to buy. If you do not, and you want hands-free photos, open-ear audio and translation for far less, start with the OXIVUE M08 at $149 (currently $50 off one pair at checkout, applied automatically), or the M14 at $199 for a sport wrap.
