Meta Ray-Ban Display: the screen, the wristband, the price and who it’s for.

Meta Ray-Ban Display is the only Meta glasses with a screen in the lens, and it comes with a wristband that reads the muscles in your arm. This page explains what the display actually is, how the Meta Neural Band works, what it costs with and without a prescription, the full spec sheet, and how buying and fitting work. Every Meta figure is from Meta's own pages, checked September 30, 2026; we have not tested the product.

What is the Meta Ray-Ban Display?

Meta Ray-Ban Display is a pair of Ray-Ban-styled AI glasses with a small colour screen built into the right lens, sold together with the Meta Neural Band, a wristband you use to control it. Meta announced it on September 17, 2025 and put it on sale in the US on September 30, 2025, according to Meta’s announcement. It is a separate product from Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 and Gen 3: those have no display at all, and give you everything as sound. Meta’s own comparison describes the Display as having a “full-color display built into the right lens” where its other glasses have “no in-lens display”.

On the Meta Ray-Ban Display page, Meta lists what the screen is for: messages from WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and your phone; turn-by-turn walking directions; Meta AI answers with visuals; live captions of the conversation you are in; written translation; a camera viewfinder; two-way video calls; music controls; and your calendar, weather and reminders. If you are trying to work out which glasses have a display at all, our smart glasses with display guide explains the three kinds.

The Meta Ray-Ban Display screen: 600×600, right lens only

The display is monocular: it sits in the right lens only, and Meta says it appears when you need it and disappears when you do not. These are the display figures from the spec panel on Meta’s buy page:

Meta calls it a “private in-lens display”. Every pair comes with Transitions lenses that darken outdoors.

Meta Neural Band: how the wristband control works

The Meta Neural Band is included in the $799 price. Meta says it uses electromyography (EMG) sensors to read the small muscle signals in your wrist, so you can pinch, scroll and tap to control the display without touching the glasses or your phone. Touch and voice controls also work. The band’s own specs, from Meta’s page:

  • Sizes: three (1, 2 and 3), found with an online Wrist Sizing Tool or a physical sizing tool in store
  • Weight: 42 g
  • Battery: up to 18 hours (134 mAh)
  • Water resistance: IPX7, higher than the glasses’ IPX4
  • Connection: Bluetooth 5.2

Meta stresses that fit matters: the sensors have to sit correctly to pick up the signals, and it advises anyone with a pacemaker or other implant to consult a doctor first. Meta also lists a replacement Neural Band as a $199 accessory.

Meta Ray-Ban Display price, colours and prescription option

On September 30, 2026 Meta’s US store listed Meta Ray-Ban Display at $799, glasses and Neural Band together, in two frame colours, Black and Sand, each in Standard or Large. The lens is the same on both: clear to grey Transitions.

  • Without prescription: $799
  • With prescription lenses: $999 ($200 extra), ordered at the time of purchase
  • Prescription range: -4.00 to +4.00 total power (sphere plus cylinder), up to 4.00 of cylinder
  • Lens type: single vision only, polycarbonate, clear to grey Transitions with anti-reflective coating
  • Insurance: Meta lists the prescription lenses as FSA/HSA eligible

That prescription range is much narrower than the -12.00 to +6.00 Meta lists for Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 and Gen 3, and progressives are not offered, which rules the Display out for a lot of glasses wearers. Every other Meta model’s price is in our Meta glasses price guide.

The display costs battery and weight: 6 hours against 8, and 69 g against 51 g. The folding case is 169 g, bigger than the 133 g case of the no-display models. The camera has the same 12 MP resolution but records video at a lower resolution than Gen 2’s 3K mode. For the no-display range, see our Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 and Gen 3 guides.

Can you buy a Meta Ray-Ban Display? Availability, demos and fitting

Yes. Meta’s buy page says Meta Ray-Ban Display is sold in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany and Italy, on meta.com and through certified Meta retailers. How buying works, according to Meta’s FAQ:

  1. Pick a frame size.Standard or Large, using Meta’s frame fit guide.
  2. Find your Neural Band size. Sizes 1 to 3, with the online Wrist Sizing Tool or in a store.
  3. Decide on a demo. The buy page says you can purchase online or in store without a demo, though Meta recommends an in-person fitting to confirm you are comfortable with a one-eye display and to size the band. Meta’s Demo Scheduler lists stores.
  4. Add prescription at checkout if you need it. It has to be ordered with the glasses.
  5. Expect stock to vary. Meta calls it a first-of-its-kind product with very limited inventory, with waitlists and backorders at some stores. On September 30, 2026 the US page showed both colours with delivery in two days.

One FAQ answer on Meta’s main Display page still says demos are “required for purchase”, while the buy page says they are not. The buy page is the more specific of the two, but if you plan to buy in a store, check with that store first.

Should you buy a Meta Ray-Ban Display? Who it’s for

The display earns its price for a specific kind of user:

  • People who need to read hands-free: captions of a conversation in a loud room, walking directions without looking down, messages in places you cannot listen.
  • Hard-of-hearing users: Meta highlights live captions and accessibility uses for people with reduced hearing, vision or mobility.
  • Early adopters who want the newest interface: the Neural Band is the most novel part of the product.

It is a weaker fit if your prescription is outside -4.00 to +4.00 or you wear progressives, if you want all-day battery, or if what you mostly do is take photos, listen to music, take calls and ask an assistant. All of that works through sound on glasses without a screen. Our Meta Ray-Ban Display alternatives guide has a three-question test for whether you need a display at all.

The no-display route: cheaper glasses without a screen

If the screen is not what you need, the price falls a long way. Within Meta, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 starts at $379 and Gen 3 at $449. Outside Meta, camera-and-audio glasses start well under $200. We make some of them, so weigh this accordingly. No OXIVUE frame has a display, a Neural Band or prescription lenses, and none runs Meta AI. They do give you an 8 MP camera, open-ear audio, calls and two-way translation you hear rather than read, through the free HeyCyan app, with no Meta or social-media account and no subscription.

Bottom line

Meta Ray-Ban Display is the one Meta pair with a screen: a 600×600, 20-degree colour display in the right lens, driven by an EMG wristband, for $799, or $999 with a single-vision prescription between -4.00 and +4.00. It is the right buy if you need to read captions, directions or messages without your phone. If you do not, you pay for weight, battery and a screen you will not use. For hands-free photos, calls, music and translation by audio, the OXIVUE M08 at $149 is the cheapest way in, and the M14 at $199 adds 139 languages and stabilised 1080p, with free US shipping from $99 and a 2-year warranty on the frame.

On September 30, 2026 the US page showed both colours available with delivery in two days, but Meta also warns that inventory is very limited.

What can the Ray-Ban Meta Display do?

According to Meta: show messages from WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and your phone, turn-by-turn walking directions, Meta AI answers with visuals, live captions and written translation, a camera viewfinder with 3x zoom, two-way video calls, music controls with album art, calendar, weather and reminders, all on a 600×600 display in the right lens, controlled with the Neural Band.

Should I buy a Meta Ray-Ban Display?

Buy it if you need to read things hands-free: captions in noisy rooms, walking directions, messages you cannot listen to.
