ChatGPT glasses: do they exist, and what actually works?
Search for ChatGPT glasses and you get brand pages, marketplace listings and a Reddit thread, all using the same two words for very different things. This guide answers the first question honestly (OpenAI does not sell glasses), explains how third-party frames reach ChatGPT, and compares the ones whose makers name it. OXIVUE publishes this page, and our own glasses are not sold as ChatGPT glasses.

1. Do ChatGPT glasses exist?
Not from OpenAI. As of October 19, 2026, OpenAI has not released glasses or any other device of its own, and it has no glasses to buy. It is reported to be working on hardware, but Bloomberg (July and August 2026) and CNBC (September 24, 2026) describe its first product as a screenless, speaker-like device for the home, and OpenAI has not confirmed what it is, what it costs or when it ships.
So when a listing says “ChatGPT glasses”, it means a pair made by another company that connects to ChatGPT, or simply uses the name in the title. That is not a criticism: some of these frames do give you ChatGPT by voice, according to their makers. It just means the question to ask is not “are these the ChatGPT glasses?” but “which assistant does this frame reach, and how?” We will keep this answer current; if OpenAI announces glasses, this page changes.
2. How third-party glasses reach ChatGPT
None of the makers we checked says ChatGPT runs inside the frame; each describes a companion phone app (checked October 19, 2026). On OXIVUE frames, for comparison, your voice (and any photo) goes over Bluetooth to the HeyCyan app on your phone, which needs a connection, and the answer comes back to your ears. Check whether a frame needs your phone nearby before you buy. Our explainer on how AI glasses work walks through the chain in more detail.
Makers wire ChatGPT in one of three ways:
- Through the maker’s app.Lucyd’s app says it gives “free premium access to ChatGPT on your Lucyd eyewear”: you activate Siri and use the wake word, or on a Samsung phone activate Bixby and say “Ask Lucy” (checked October 19, 2026).
- Several models behind one assistant. Solos says its AirGo V2 connects to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and DeepSeek, and Rokid markets the AI Glasses Style as working with ChatGPT and Gemini. You get ChatGPT as one engine among several.
- On a display.Even Realities sells display glasses and lists “ChatGPT & Perplexity” with a footnote that this is for the Even G1 only; it states its AI glasses have no cameras.
Some marketplace listings in the October 19, 2026 results put ChatGPT in the product title. Read the companion app’s store page to see which AI service it actually connects to before you buy.
3. Frames whose makers name ChatGPT, compared
Four makers named ChatGPT on their own sites when we checked on October 19, 2026. Meta is in the table because “Do Meta glasses work with ChatGPT?” appears in Google’s ‘People also ask’ box for this search (October 19, 2026). The rows are ranked by use case, not by an overall winner, and the OXIVUE row is there for contrast, not as a ChatGPT option.
| Frame | Assistant, per the maker | Camera | Price on maker’s site | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lucyd eyewear | ChatGPT via the Lucyd app (Siri or Bixby) | No Lucyd camera frame named; shop lists HTC VIVE Eagle | Not quoted (site would not load for us) | Talking to ChatGPT by voice, audio-first |
| Solos AirGo V2 | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek | 16 MP, per Solos | $299 | Choosing between AI models, with a camera |
| Rokid AI Glasses Style | ChatGPT and Gemini, per Rokid | 12 MP, per Rokid | $329 | Prescription wearers (Rokid lists -15.00D to +15.00D) |
| Even Realities G1 | ChatGPT & Perplexity (G1 only) | None, per Even Realities | Not shown on the page we read | Reading answers on a display, no camera |
| Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) | Meta AI; ChatGPT not mentioned | Not covered on the page we read | From $379 | Meta AI users; ChatGPT not named by Meta |
| OXIVUE M02C | Hey Cyan visual AI in the HeyCyan app; ChatGPT not advertised | 8 MP Sony IMX219 | $109 at checkout ($159 list) | A camera frame at a lower price, IP65 |
Third-party details checked October 19, 2026 on each maker’s site; OXIVUE prices checked 2026-10-19; checkout price may change. Specs and prices can change, so open the maker’s page before you order. For a deeper look at two of these, see OXIVUE vs Solos and OXIVUE vs Lucyd.
4. ChatGPT glasses with a camera
A camera is what lets an assistant answer about what you see. Without one, the assistant has only your voice to go on. With a camera frame whose app supports it, a photo can go along with the question, so “what does this sign say?” or “what plant is this?” becomes answerable without taking out your phone.
Of the frames in the table, Solos (AirGo V2) and Rokid (AI Glasses Style) pair a camera with ChatGPT, according to their makers. Even Realities states its AI glasses have no cameras. Lucyd’s app page names no camera frame of its own, though its shop lists third-party camera glasses (HTC VIVE Eagle) and says the app works with Siri on any wearable (checked October 19, 2026). A camera also means photos and point-of-view clips, whatever the assistant. Our camera glasses guide covers that side.
5. Where OXIVUE fits, and where it does not
OXIVUE does not advertise a ChatGPT integration, and we do not sell our frames as ChatGPT glasses. They run their assistant through the free HeyCyan app. If ChatGPT by name is your requirement, one of the frames above is the honest answer.
If what you actually want is to ask a question out loud, hear an answer and have the glasses look at something for you, the M02C is worth a look. It is $109 at checkout ($159 list) and has a “Hey Cyan” wake word with visual AI that can describe what you are looking at. It uses a Sony IMX219 8 MP sensor with dual stabilisation, is rated IP65 (dust and water jets, not immersion), weighs about 41 g and charges magnetically. It comes with sun, photochromic or clear lenses, gives 7 hours of listening and 4 hours of calls, and translates 40+ languages in the app.
What it will not do:
- No advertised ChatGPT integration. OXIVUE does not publish which AI services the HeyCyan app’s agents use, so if ChatGPT by name matters, pick a frame whose maker lists it.
- No display. Answers come by voice; photos and clips go to the phone app.
- No prescription lenses on any OXIVUE model.
- The assistant, translation and file transfer need your phone nearby and connected. Translated audio is heard only by you; the other person reads the reply on your phone.

6. Five questions before you buy any ChatGPT glasses
- Does the maker name ChatGPT on its own site?A listing title is not enough. Look for the assistant on the brand’s page or in its app description.
- Is there a camera? Without one, the assistant can only hear you. With one, it can answer about what you see, and you can take photos.
- Display or audio only? Display glasses show text in your view; audio frames, including all OXIVUE models, speak the answer.
- Do you need prescription lenses? Some makers offer them (Rokid lists a range on its page); OXIVUE does not.
- What do warranty and returns look like? Policies differ between makers. Read them before you order, especially for a product whose AI features may not match what you imagined.
7. Privacy, consent and exams
A camera on your face may not be obvious to the people around you. On OXIVUE frames a capture starts only with a deliberate touch on the temple; whatever glasses you buy, tell people before you record them, and follow local law, which in some US states requires everyone in a conversation to agree to an audio recording. Our recording laws by state guide has the detail. This is general information, not legal advice.
“ChatGPT glasses for tests” appears in Google’s related searches for this topic (October 19, 2026), so to be plain: the College Board’s SAT rules list smart glasses, cameras and Bluetooth earbuds as prohibited devices (checked October 19, 2026); check your own school’s or test centre’s rules before exam day. Use them to study, not to sit the test.
Shipping, refunds and warranty. Free shipping from $99. US orders typically arrive in 5–9 business days; international orders take 9–14 business days. No refunds except transit damage (replaced or refunded); faults are repaired or replaced under the 2-year warranty; change of mind and unmet expectations are not refundable. None of our frames take prescription lenses. Compare every model on the comparison page.
Frequently asked questions
Is OpenAI making its own ChatGPT glasses?
Not that it has announced. As of October 19, 2026, OpenAI has released no glasses or any other hardware of its own. Bloomberg reported in July and August 2026 that its first device is a screenless, speaker-like device for the home, and CNBC (September 24, 2026) described it as a hockey puck-like speaker; OpenAI has not confirmed a price or date. Glasses sold as ChatGPT glasses today are made by other companies, and the ones we checked reach ChatGPT through the maker's phone app.
How much are the ChatGPT glasses?
It depends on the maker, because there is no single ChatGPT glasses product. Checked October 19, 2026 on the makers' own sites: Solos lists the camera-equipped AirGo V2 at $299 and AirGo A5 frames at $249, and Rokid lists the AI Glasses Style at $329. Marketplace listings also put ChatGPT in the title, so check what the app actually connects to before you buy.
Do Meta glasses work with ChatGPT?
Not according to Meta's product page. Meta sells Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), starting at $379 on meta.com, as glasses that run Meta AI, and the product page does not mention ChatGPT or OpenAI (checked October 19, 2026). If talking to ChatGPT by voice is the point, choose a frame whose maker names ChatGPT, such as Lucyd or Solos.
Are there ChatGPT glasses with a camera?
Yes. Solos says its AirGo V2 has a 16 MP camera and connects to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and DeepSeek, and Rokid markets the AI Glasses Style, with a 12 MP camera, as working with ChatGPT and Gemini (both checked October 19, 2026). Even Realities states its AI glasses have no cameras. A camera is what lets an assistant answer questions about what you are looking at.
Do AI smart glasses really work?
Yes, for the jobs their makers list: hands-free questions, calls, music, translation and point-of-view photos. Check the limits on each maker's page. The assistants on the frames we checked are reached through a companion phone app and an internet connection, and glasses without a display give you answers by voice only.
Is it safe to wear AI glasses?
They are worn like ordinary glasses, but use them with care. Do not look at the app while you drive or walk in traffic, and remember that AI answers can be wrong, so check anything that matters. Camera glasses raise a privacy question: tell people before you record them and follow local law. No OXIVUE frame has a published impact rating, so they are not eye protection.
Can you use ChatGPT glasses for tests?
No, and you should not try. The College Board's SAT rules list smart glasses, cameras and Bluetooth earbuds as prohibited devices (checked October 19, 2026); check your own school's or test centre's rules before exam day. Getting caught can void a result or lead to disciplinary action. Use them to study at home, for example by asking questions aloud while your hands are busy, never in the exam room.
Do OXIVUE glasses use ChatGPT?
No, not as an advertised feature. OXIVUE does not advertise a ChatGPT integration; our frames run their assistant through the HeyCyan app, and the M02C ($109 at checkout) adds a visual assistant you wake with Hey Cyan that can describe what the camera sees. If ChatGPT by name is a requirement, buy from a maker that lists it; if you want a camera, open-ear audio and translation in 40+ languages, the M02C is an option.
What these frames won’t do
- No prescription lenses yet, on any model. If you need vision correction all day, these can't replace your glasses.
- No display. Nothing appears in your view; you hear answers and capture photos and video.
- Open-ear speakers leak some sound at high volume and won't block out a loud train or a windy road the way sealed earbuds do.
- Translation, music, calls and the assistant need your phone nearby and connected. Translation pauses after each sentence, and only you hear the translated audio; the other person reads the reply on your phone.
- M02C: IP65 resists dust and water jets, not immersion. No swimming, no saltwater.
Check these before you order: see the warranty and refund policy.
