Meta glasses · 2026
The best Meta glasses, decided by what Meta publishes
Meta now sells four lines of glasses under three brands, from a $224 Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1 to a $799 Display, and the spec sheets overlap less than the marketing suggests. This guide picks the best Meta glasses for each kind of buyer using the battery, water rating, camera and price figures on Meta's own pages, and ends with what to do if the Meta ecosystem is not the reason you are shopping.

1. The four Meta lines, in one paragraph each
Shopping for the best Meta glasses is harder than it was a year ago because the name now covers four different product lines. Ray-Ban Metais the everyday camera frame, sold in three generations (Gen 1 from $224, Gen 2 from $379, Gen 3 from $449 on Meta’s US shop, checked October 7, 2026) plus a new camera-free Audio pair from $349. Oakley Meta is the sport line: HSTN from $399 and Vanguard from $499. Meta Glassesis Meta’s own-brand frame line, from $249 for the Adventurer and $299 for Capri, Nova and Fury. And Meta Ray-Ban Display, from $799, is the one with a screen in the lens and a wristband to drive it.
Rather than rank ten frames, this page asks the questions that actually split them: how much you want to spend, whether you will sweat in them, whether you want a display, and what shape suits your face. Every “best for” below is tied to a figure Meta publishes, not to our testing. Meta also keeps a compare page with the full row-by-row specs; we link to it rather than copy it.
2. By budget: every Meta line and its starting price
Prices below are the “From” figures on Meta’s US shop on October 7, 2026. Colour, lens and prescription choices push most of them higher.
| Meta line | Starting price | Camera | Best for (per published spec) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer / Skyler (Gen 1) | From $224 | See Meta’s compare page | Meta’s lowest Ray-Ban starting price; older generation |
| Meta Glasses Adventurer | From $249 | Yes (12 MP on the LISA Edition compare column) | Meta-brand entry price, current generation |
| Meta Glasses Capri / Nova / Fury | From $299 | See Meta’s compare page | Meta-brand frames in more shapes |
| Ray-Ban Meta Clubmaster / Burbank (Audio) | From $349 | No | Audio and assistant without a camera; up to 12 h |
| Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer / Skyler / Headliner (Gen 2) | From $379 | Yes | Up to 8 h; the previous everyday generation |
| Oakley Meta HSTN | From $399 | Yes | IPX4 sport frame; golf-oriented lens options |
| Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer / Aviator / Zena (Gen 3) | From $449 | Yes | Up to 9 h; the current everyday pick |
| Oakley Meta Vanguard | From $499 | Yes | IP67; cycling, running, helmets |
| Meta Ray-Ban Display | From $799 | Yes | The one with a display; Neural Band included |
Meta prices checked October 7, 2026 on meta.com; they change. For every colour and lens price in one place see our Meta glasses price list. The short reading of the table: under $300 buys you Meta’s own-brand frames or an older Ray-Ban generation; $379 to $449 buys the current Ray-Ban camera frames; $399 to $499 buys the Oakley sport frames; and $799 is the price of a screen.
3. Everyday wear: which Ray-Ban Meta to buy
If you will wear the glasses to work, to dinner and on holiday, the Ray-Ban line is the answer, and the question becomes which generation. The deciding specs, all from Meta’s compare page and announcements:
- Gen 3 (from $449).Meta lists a wide-angle 12 MP camera with a 100° field of view, 3K video at 30 frames per second, 1080p at 60, a 6-mic array, up to 9 hours of battery plus 50 hours from the case, Standard and Large sizes, a prescription range of −12.00 to +6.00, and no display. The Wayfarer, Aviator and Zena shapes all share this hardware.
- Gen 2 (from $379). Meta’s Gen 2 announcement (September 17, 2025) lists up to 8 hours of battery, 48 hours from the case, 3K video and up to 60 frames per second. It makes no water-resistance statement. Meta’s own Gen 2 product page now carries the line “For newer styles and tech: Shop Gen 3.”
- Gen 1 (from $224). The lowest starting price in the Ray-Ban Meta line. We did not re-read its spec sheet today, so we will not quote its battery or camera; treat it as the budget way into the Ray-Ban look rather than a spec choice.
The honest rule: if the extra hour of battery and the newer shapes matter, Gen 3 is the best Ray-Ban Meta glasses to buy; if $70 matters more and 8 hours is enough, Gen 2 does the same job for most people. Our Ray-Ban smart glasses guide walks every style and colour.
4. Sport: Oakley Meta Vanguard or HSTN
The first thing to check for sweat, rain and wind is the water rating, because it is the one figure that differs most between the lines. Meta states an IP67 dust and water rating for Vanguard and an IPX4 rating for HSTN; it states no rating for Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 in that announcement, and the Gen 3 compare column does not list one.
- Oakley Meta Vanguard ($499). Meta’s Vanguard announcement (September 17, 2025) lists IP67, up to 9 hours of battery or 6 hours of continuous music, 36 more hours from the case, a centred 12 MP camera with a 122-degree lens, a five-microphone array tuned to reduce wind noise, speakers six decibels louder than HSTN, Garmin and Strava integration, and a frame optimised for cycling helmets and hats. Lens options on the product page include Prizm Road, Prizm Sapphire and a Transitions option. This is the best Meta glasses pick for cycling and running on the published numbers.
- Oakley Meta HSTN (from $399). Meta’s HSTN announcement (June 20, 2025) lists IPX4, up to 8 hours of typical use, 19 hours on standby, 48 hours from the case and 3K video. The product page lists a Prizm Dark Golf lens among the options and Standard and High bridge fits. It is the Oakley for golf, the gym and days that end at a restaurant, where a wrap frame would look out of place.
The two lines are compared row by row in Oakley Meta vs Ray-Ban Meta. The spec-based summary: wrap, IP67 and wind mics for the bike; IPX4 and a conventional shape for everything else.
5. If you want a screen: Meta Ray-Ban Display
Meta Ray-Ban Display is the one Meta frame with a display, and the choice is binary: you either want messages and alerts in your lens or you do not. Meta’s launch announcement (September 17, 2025) prices it from $799 including the Meta Neural Band wristband, lists up to 6 hours of mixed-use battery and 30 hours total with the case, gives the band an IPX7 rating and 18 hours of battery, and says it went on sale at limited US stores first: Best Buy, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut and Ray-Ban Stores. Meta’s shop page lists it at $799 in two colours today.
Two spec facts should steer the decision. The battery figure is a third shorter than Gen 3’s 9 hours, and the price is $350 more than Gen 3. If you mostly want photos, calls and an assistant, the screen is a cost, not a feature. If you want notifications without a phone in hand, nothing else in the Meta range does it. See our Meta Ray-Ban Display guide for the detail.
6. If you do not want a camera: Ray-Ban Meta Audio
A camera on your face is not for everyone, and some workplaces and venues do not allow one. Meta’s September 23, 2026 announcement introduced Ray-Ban Meta Audio in Clubmaster and Burbank shapes from $349, at 43 grams, with up to 12 hours of battery and 48 more from the case, shipping from October 13. Meta’s compare page shows the camera rows as blank and the display row as none. That 12-hour figure is three hours longer than Meta lists for Gen 3, which follows from leaving the camera out. If what you want is music, calls and the assistant in a Ray-Ban, this is the best Meta glasses choice, and it costs $100 less than Gen 3.
7. Frame shape and fit: the “best Meta glasses for women” question
Searches for the best Meta glasses for women are almost always a fit question, because the hardware is the same across a generation. Three things help. First, shape: Zena is the Gen 3 frame Meta describes as a cat-eye, from $449; Skyler (Gen 2, from $379) and Capri (Meta Glasses, from $299) are the other styles worth trying on if the Wayfarer sits too wide. Second, size: Meta lists Standard and Large sizes for Gen 3 and offers high-bridge fits on several frames, which changes how the glasses sit more than any colour does. Third, prescriptions: the Rx range Meta lists varies by frame (−12.00 to +6.00 on Gen 3, −12.00 to +2.25 on the Adventurer LISA Edition column of the compare page), so check it before choosing a shape you like.
The same logic applies to anyone with a narrower face. Try the frame on, in a store or with Meta’s virtual try-on, and pick the shape; the camera and battery follow.
8. The price gap: when you do not need the Meta ecosystem
Every Meta camera frame above is sold on the Meta AI assistant, the Ray-Ban or Oakley name and a 12 MP camera. If your actual list is “take photos and clips, hear music and calls without earbuds, and translate a conversation”, you can do that for about a quarter of the price. We make those glasses, so read this section as the maker’s case, with the limits stated.

How to read it. The M08 at $99 is the price-gap pick: an 8 MP camera set flush in the frame corner, open-ear speakers, microphones, a touch on the temple to start a capture, three lens choices and a 42-gram Italian TR90 frame. The M02C at $109adds the Sony IMX219 sensor with dual stabilisation, an IP65 rating for rain (not immersion), magnetic charging and the “Hey Cyan” visual AI that describes what you are looking at. Both translate 40+ languages through the free HeyCyan app. The M14 at $149 is the one to choose when either of two things matters: 139 languages of translation, or a wrap shield with an IPX4 rating for the bike or the slope. Its shield cannot be swapped for a clear or photochromic lens, and at 52 g it is the heaviest of the three.
What you give up is worth saying plainly. There is no Meta AI, no 12 MP sensor, no display, and no prescription option on any OXIVUE frame. Translation runs through your phone: you hear the translated audio, the other person reads the reply on your screen, and it pauses after each sentence. The camera starts with a visible touch, and recording other people is subject to consent rules that vary by place. No refunds except transit damage (replaced or refunded); faults are repaired or replaced under the 2-year warranty; change of mind and unmet expectations are not refundable. If that trade reads well, the Ray-Ban Meta alternatives guide goes deeper, and the translation page shows how the language feature works.
Shipping, refunds and warranty. Free shipping from $99. US orders typically arrive in 5–9 business days; international orders take 9–14 business days to the 39 countries we ship to, with any import VAT or duties paid by the recipient. OXIVUE does not offer refunds except for an order damaged in transit, which is replaced or refunded. Faults after delivery are covered by the 2-year warranty through repair or replacement. None of our frames take prescription lenses. Compare every model on the comparison page.
Frequently asked questions
Which Meta glasses should I buy?
Start from the use, not the model. For everyday wear with a camera, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 (from $449 on Meta's shop, checked October 7, 2026) lists up to 9 hours of battery, the same figure Meta gives the Oakley Meta Vanguard. For sport, Oakley Meta Vanguard is the pair Meta rates IP67 and builds for helmets. If you want a screen, Meta Ray-Ban Display is the one with a display, at $799. If you do not need the Meta ecosystem, an OXIVUE M08 at $99 or M02C at $109 at checkout covers camera, open-ear audio and translation.
Which Meta glasses are better, Oakley or Ray-Ban?
Neither is better across the board; they are built for different days. Meta publishes an IP67 rating, wind-optimised microphones, a 122-degree camera and Garmin and Strava links for Oakley Meta Vanguard ($499), and an IPX4 rating for Oakley Meta HSTN (from $399). Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 (from $449) lists up to 9 hours of battery, four lens types and an Rx range of -12.00 to +6.00, and Meta states no water rating in its Gen 2 announcement. Ride or run in Oakley; wear Ray-Ban the rest of the time.
Are Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses worth it?
Yes if the screen is the point, and otherwise no. Meta Ray-Ban Display starts at $799 including the Neural Band wristband, and Meta lists up to 6 hours of mixed-use battery against up to 9 hours on Gen 3. Meta launched it in stores first, at Best Buy, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut and Ray-Ban Stores. If what you want is photos, calls and an assistant in your ear, every other frame in this guide does that for less.
What are the best Meta glasses for women?
Frame shape matters more than any spec here. Zena is the Gen 3 frame Meta describes as a cat-eye, from $449; Skyler (Gen 2, from $379) and Capri (Meta Glasses, from $299) are the other styles to try on if a Wayfarer sits too wide. Every Gen 3 frame shares the same 12 MP camera and battery, so pick on fit. If you wear prescription lenses, note the Rx range Meta lists for each frame before ordering.
Are glasses with cameras any good?
For what they are built for, yes: a photo or short clip of what you are looking at, started with a touch or a voice command, with your hands free. They are not a replacement for a phone camera; Meta frames capture at 12 MP and OXIVUE frames at 8 MP. The honest test is whether you would otherwise miss the moment while fishing out a phone. If so, they earn their place.
How much are Meta glasses that record?
On Meta's US shop on October 7, 2026, starting prices run from $224 for the older Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1 and $249 for Meta Glasses Adventurer to $379 for Gen 2, $399 for Oakley Meta HSTN, $449 for Gen 3 and $499 for Oakley Meta Vanguard, all camera frames in the current generations. Meta Ray-Ban Display is $799. The Ray-Ban Meta Audio frames at $349 have no camera. OXIVUE camera glasses are $99 (M08), $109 (M02C) and $149 (M14) at checkout.
Do Meta glasses have a screen?
One model does. Meta Ray-Ban Display has a private in-lens display and ships with the Neural Band for control; it starts at $799. Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, Ray-Ban Meta Audio and the Adventurer LISA Edition are all listed as no display on Meta's compare page, and Meta's Oakley Vanguard announcement describes a status LED rather than a screen: you hear the assistant and see photos on your phone. OXIVUE frames have no display either.
Is there a cheaper option that does the same job?
For camera, open-ear audio and translation, OXIVUE sells the M08 at $99 and the M02C at $109 at checkout, and the M14 wrap shield at $149 with 139-language translation. You give up the Ray-Ban and Oakley names, Meta AI and the 12 MP camera, and there is no display and no prescription option. OXIVUE ships to 39 countries; US orders typically arrive in 5 to 9 business days.
What these frames won’t do
- No prescription lenses yet, on any model. If you need vision correction all day, these can't replace your glasses.
- No display. Nothing appears in your view; you hear answers and capture photos and video.
- Open-ear speakers leak some sound at high volume and won't block out a loud train or a windy road the way sealed earbuds do.
- Translation, music, calls and the assistant need your phone nearby and connected. Translation pauses after each sentence, and only you hear the translated audio; the other person reads the reply on your phone.
- M08: no published water rating, so keep it out of heavy rain and spray.
- M02C: IP65 resists dust and water jets, not immersion. No swimming, no saltwater.
- M14: one-piece shield, so the lens can't be swapped for clear or photochromic.
- M14: IPX4 covers splash, spray and rain only, and at 52 g it is heavier than the 41–42 g frames.
Check these before you order: see the warranty and refund policy.
