Thanksgiving gifts for employees, sorted by headcount and budget

Most lists of Thanksgiving gifts for employees are catalogues from companies that sell corporate gifts. This guide starts from the two numbers that actually decide the gift: how many people you are thanking and what you can spend per head. It also covers how the IRS treats gift cards, and the one narrow case where a pair of our camera glasses makes sense as a reward.

1. Thanksgiving gifts for employees by headcount and budget

Two numbers decide almost everything: how many people you are thanking, and what you can spend on each. A gift that is easy to hand to five people becomes a procurement and shipping project for five hundred, and a budget that buys something memorable for one person buys very little when divided across a department.

The table below sorts idea types, not brands, by team size and per-head budget. We do not name or price other companies’ products here; the categories are the useful part.

Team sizeLow budget per headMedium budget per headOne individual reward
Under 10 peopleHome-baked or bakery pie, handwritten note eachTeam lunch or dinner out, practical gift chosen per personSomething matched to that person’s job
10 to 50 peopleCatered Thanksgiving lunch at work, notes from managersFood box or warm practical item, same for everyoneA named reward for one or two top performers
50+ people or many sitesPaid early finish before the holiday, site-level treatsOne gift ordered centrally and shipped to homesReward chosen by each site lead for their own team
Remote or field staffA meal-delivery gift card (taxable; see section 3)Gift shipped to home, chosen for life on the roadGear that helps on the job, such as a hands-free item

The pattern is simple. Everyone gets the same modest thing, delivered well, and anything more expensive goes to an individual for a reason you can name. Keeping the larger amount for one named reward keeps the team gift fair and gives the reward real meaning.

2. Ideas that work for a whole team

For a whole team, food and time are the safest choices. They fit the holiday, they suit people with very different tastes, and they do not leave anyone with something to store.

  • Food that goes home. A pie, a box of baking ingredients or a contribution toward the holiday meal ties directly to Thanksgiving. Check for dietary needs before you order one thing for everyone.
  • A shared meal at work. A catered lunch in the week of the holiday lets people take part without spending their own time off on a work event.
  • Time. An early finish on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is a gift nobody needs to unwrap, and it helps anyone travelling to family.
  • Something warm and practical. For warehouse, site and delivery crews, gloves, a good thermos or a warm layer acknowledges the conditions they work in.
  • A note with specifics. One or two sentences about something the person actually did this year. It costs nothing and shows you noticed.

Avoid gifts that look like advertising for the company to the person receiving them. A logo on everything reads as merchandise, not thanks.

3. Gift cards, cash and taxes

Gift cards are taxable wages in the US. IRS Publication 15-B (2026) states that cash and cash equivalents, including gift certificates and gift cards, “no matter how little, are never excludable as a de minimis benefit” (checked October 20, 2026). The same publication lists holiday gifts other than cash with a low fair market value as an example of a de minimis benefit that can be left out of income.

Publication 15-B also describes employee achievement awards: tangible personal property given for length of service or safety achievement, with an excludable annual amount of $1,600, or $400 for awards that are not qualified plan awards, and no exclusion for cash, gift cards or gift certificates. If you plan a reward for a driver or field employee with a clean safety year, ask your accountant whether it can be set up that way. This is general information, not tax advice.

4. One top-performer reward for field, delivery or driving staff

A pair of OXIVUE camera glasses fits one narrow case honestly: a single reward for an employee who spends the day on foot, on a site or behind the wheel. It is not a gift for a whole team, because there is no bulk, corporate or logo pricing.

The useful parts for that kind of job are the open-ear speakers, which play calls, navigation prompts and music while still letting you hear traffic and people around you, and the 8 MP camera, which takes a photo or clip from eye level when you touch the temple. A delivery driver can photograph a drop-off with both hands full; a site lead can capture a detail for a report. Our guides for delivery drivers, construction workers and truck drivers go into each job in detail.

Be honest with yourself about who it suits. These are not safety glasses: no impact rating is published for any of our frames, so they cannot replace protective eyewear a job requires. None of them take prescription lenses, so they do not work for someone who needs vision correction all day. Translation, the assistant and file transfer need the phone app nearby and connected, and there is no display.

5. M08 or M08C for the reward

The M08 is $99 at checkout and the M08C is $119; both weigh about 42 g. Choose by the person’s day, not by the bigger number.

Prices checked 2026-10-20; checkout price may change. The M08 on the sun lens is the straightforward pick for someone who works outdoors in daylight; for evening shifts, choose the clear lens and never drive at night in a tinted one. The M08C adds a metal trim that looks at home in an office and meeting transcription for someone who also runs client or team meetings. Neither has a published water rating, so for crews who work in steady rain, look at the full lineup on the comparison page.

Translated audio is heard only by the wearer, and the other person reads the reply on the phone. Translation pauses after each sentence, so it suits short exchanges with a customer more than a long conversation.

Before you give anyone a camera they wear on their face, check your own workplace policy. Employers, clients and sites may have rules about recording on their premises, and they apply to glasses just as they apply to phones.

On OXIVUE frames a photo or clip starts only with a visible touch on the temple; nothing records unless the wearer starts it. Recording conversations can require everyone’s consent depending on the state, so tell the person you are rewarding to ask before recording colleagues or customers. Our recording laws by state guide covers the rules. Drivers should use the glasses for audio while the vehicle is moving, leave the camera and the phone app alone at the wheel, and check local law; see can you drive with smart glasses. This is general information, not legal advice.

7. Ordering and timing

US delivery takes 5–9 business days; to have them by Thanksgiving, order by about November 13. That is a typical window, not a promised arrival date, so leave margin if the gift is tied to a specific team meeting.

The standard store offer applies to every order: $50 off one pair applied at checkout, and two or more pairs 50% off all eyewear, so rewarding two people in one order costs less per pair. There is no separate corporate price, invoicing scheme or logo option. Shipping is free from $99, so a single pair qualifies. We ship to 39 countries; orders outside the US take 9–14 business days after shipment, and the recipient pays any import VAT or duties on delivery. Details are on the shipping policy page.

No refunds except transit damage (replaced or refunded); faults are repaired or replaced under the 2-year warranty; change of mind and unmet expectations are not refundable. That matters for a gift: choose the lens with the recipient’s working hours in mind before you order.

Shipping, refunds and warranty. Free shipping from $99. US orders typically arrive in 5–9 business days; international orders take 9–14 business days. OXIVUE does not offer refunds except for an order damaged in transit, which is replaced or refunded. Faults after delivery are covered by the 2-year warranty through repair or replacement. None of our frames take prescription lenses. Read the full return policy before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good Thanksgiving gift for employees?

Something the whole team can use or share, given with a short personal note. Food that travels home (a pie, a baking box, a grocery contribution), a warm practical item for people who work outdoors, or a paid early finish before the holiday all land well. Pick by headcount first: what is easy for five people becomes a logistics project for five hundred. Save the more expensive item for an individual reward rather than spreading it thinly across everyone.

Does Thanksgiving involve giving gifts?

Not traditionally. In the US, Thanksgiving is a holiday about the meal, and the usual gift is a small one for the host. At work, though, it is a natural moment to say thank you before the busier year-end season, and a modest gift or treat in November does not compete with whatever you plan for December. Keep it small and focused on gratitude rather than a second round of holiday presents.

Are gift cards for employees taxable?

Yes. IRS Publication 15-B (2026) says cash and cash equivalents, including gift cards and gift certificates, are never excludable as a de minimis benefit, no matter how small (checked October 20, 2026). The same publication lists holiday gifts other than cash with a low fair market value as an example of a de minimis benefit. So a pie or a turkey is treated differently from a $25 gift card. Ask your accountant how this applies to your payroll; this is general information, not tax advice.

What is the 5 gift rule?

It is a family gift-giving rule of thumb, usually described as something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read, and one more such as something to do. It is meant to stop gift lists from growing out of control. It does not translate directly to the workplace, but the idea behind it helps: one useful gift chosen for the person beats several generic ones.

What is a good small gift to show appreciation?

A handwritten note costs almost nothing and carries weight, especially when it names something specific the person did this year. Pair it with something small and consumable, such as baked goods, good coffee or a team lunch. For staff who spend the day outside or on the road, something practical for the cold or the commute shows you know what their job is actually like.

Can I buy OXIVUE glasses in bulk with a company logo?

No. OXIVUE has no bulk, corporate or logo pricing and does not engrave or print on frames. The standard store offer applies to any order: $50 off one pair at checkout, and 50% off all eyewear when two or more pairs are in one order. That makes a pair a reasonable single reward for one or two people, not a gift for a whole team.

When should I order so the gift arrives before Thanksgiving?

US delivery takes 5 to 9 business days; to have them by Thanksgiving, order by about November 13. That is a typical window, not a guaranteed arrival date. Orders to the other countries we ship to take 9 to 14 business days after shipment, and recipients outside the US pay any import VAT or duties on delivery. Shipping is free from $99, so a single pair qualifies.

What these frames won’t do

  • No prescription lenses yet, on any model. If you need vision correction all day, these can't replace your glasses.
  • No display. Nothing appears in your view; you hear answers and capture photos and video.
  • Open-ear speakers leak some sound at high volume and won't block out a loud train or a windy road the way sealed earbuds do.
  • Translation, music, calls and the assistant need your phone nearby and connected. Translation pauses after each sentence, and only you hear the translated audio; the other person reads the reply on your phone.
  • M08: no published water rating, so keep it out of heavy rain and spray.
  • M08C: no published water rating, so keep it out of heavy rain and spray.
