Gentle Monster smart glasses: announced, with no price and no buy button

Search for Gentle Monster smart glasses and you find news previews, forum threads and a fall window. This guide sticks to what Gentle Monster and Google say on their own pages, plus what named outlets reported, dated October 31, 2026. It says plainly what is still unannounced: the price, the release date and where to buy. If you want camera-and-audio glasses you can order now, it ends with one pair that fits.

1. Status on October 31, 2026: announced, no way to buy yet

You cannot yet order Gentle Monster smart glasses from the pages we checked. The brand’s own Intelligent Eyewear page (checked October 31, 2026) describes the line as a collaboration with Google and Samsung. It says that, together with “the first design revealed at Google I/O,” the designs it shows offer “a preview of the debut collection, arriving this fall.” It offers an email sign-up to receive “the latest updates on Gentle Monster Intelligent Eyewear” and shows no price, no release date and no purchase button for the eyewear.

Google’s Android XR page (checked October 31, 2026) is consistent. It says “The first collections of audio glasses will be launching this fall,” labels the audio glasses “Coming soon,” and carries a footnote reading “Products under development and subject to change.” The “Buy now” links we found on that page are for Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset and XREAL’s AURA; the audio glasses cards offer “Learn more.”

That distinction matters because the coverage we found is made up of previews and first-look write-ups. They describe frames shown at launch events and are not reviews of a retail product, because neither maker’s page shows one you can buy. For the wider Google and Samsung programme, including how each company words its own timing, see our guides to Google’s Android XR glasses and Samsung’s intelligent eyewear; this page is about the Gentle Monster side.

2. What Gentle Monster itself says

Gentle Monster’s page is written by the brand, and it is short. Its text says the line combines “Gentle Monster’s distinctive design with Gemini, in collaboration with Google and Samsung,” and that the collection supports key features including “real-time translation, navigation, contextual assistance, and visual understanding.” It states that the glasses provide “up to 9 hours of battery life on a single charge” and that “the charging case supports 7 or more additional charges,” and it names both Android and iOS devices as compatible.

Road to VR reported on July 22, 2026 that the brands showed new designs at Samsung Unpacked in London, including another Gentle Monster design. The outlet describes Gentle Monster’s initial design from Google I/O in May as a “cat eye” design and says the new designs “still don’t have names.” Gentle Monster’s own page carries a caption saying “More designs coming this fall” and says the debut collection “will include a wider range of designs when it launches this fall.”

Two details are easy to miss. The page’s footnotes say “Compatibility, availability, and age restrictions vary” and “Some features require setup or subscription.” The page does not say which features, or what a subscription would cost. And its FAQ lists the questions you would ask, including “When will Gentle Monster Intelligent Eyewear be released?” and “Where can I buy Gentle Monster Intelligent Eyewear?”, but the text we retrieved showed no answers under them.

3. The hardware: what is confirmed and what is reported

The table separates statements from the makers’ pages from details that come from press who spent time with the glasses. A first-look writer can describe what was in front of them, but a preview unit may differ from the product that ships, and Google says its products are subject to change.

Not stated on the two makers’ pages or in GSMArena’s first look (checked October 31, 2026): the weight, a battery-life figure from a hands-on test, names for the individual designs, a list of launch markets, prescription-lens terms for these glasses and what a subscription would add or cost. Until Gentle Monster or Google publishes a spec sheet, treat those as unknown rather than filling them in from a rumour.

4. Price: what has been said, and what is guessing

The one on-the-record remark about price that we found is a positioning remark. SamMobile (page last updated July 27, 2026) reports that Choi Jae-in, head of Samsung Electronics’ Extended Reality R&D team, told reporters after Unpacked that the company will set pricing for the smart glasses at “a reasonable level” and that they “should initially be positioned in the premium range.” Neither is a number. As SamMobile reports it, the remark does not single out Gentle Monster, and the report gives no separate price for the Gentle Monster designs.

SamMobile’s own writer adds a dollar estimate, based on another brand’s glasses rather than on anything Samsung said. We do not repeat estimates like that, because we found no price from Gentle Monster or Google, the executive quoted above gave no figure, and a guessed price quoted often enough starts to read like a fact. The practical advice is dull but sound: wait for the maker’s page to show a price, and compare it with what you would otherwise pay for a camera-and-audio pair. Our AI glasses vs smart glasses guide explains the categories, so you compare like with like.

5. Another Gentle Monster tech collaboration

Gentle Monster has also put its name on eyewear from another tech company. Huawei’s New Zealand support page “Introduction to HUAWEI Eyewear lenses” (checked October 31, 2026) lists “HUAWEI X GENTLE MONSTER Eyewear II” among its applicable products, alongside “HUAWEI X GENTLE MONSTER Eyewear” and “HUAWEI Eyewear.” That page does not describe a camera or audio features, and it does not say whether these glasses can be bought, so check Huawei before assuming they can. It is a Huawei product line, separate from the Google and Samsung glasses above. Our Huawei smart glasses guidecovers Huawei’s own smart glasses.

6. What to check before you order any Gentle Monster pair

The maker’s page leaves several things open, so these are the questions to answer before paying:

  • Which features need a subscription? The page says “Some features require setup or subscription” without naming them. Ask which ones, and for how long they are included.
  • Is your country covered? The page we read was the US version, and it says availability varies. In the text we read it does not list other markets.
  • Do you need prescription lenses?Neither the Intelligent Eyewear page nor Google’s Android XR page (checked October 31, 2026) mentions prescription lenses for these glasses. If you need a prescription, get the answer in writing before ordering.
  • What is the refund and warranty policy? The Intelligent Eyewear page states no refund or warranty terms for the glasses, so read the seller’s terms before you pay.
  • Your phone. Android and iOS devices are both named, but the page adds that compatibility varies, so confirm your model and operating system version.
  • Recording. Camera glasses record other people. Ask before you record someone, and check the law where you live, especially for audio. The same rule applies to every pair mentioned on this page.

If navigation is the feature that draws you, our smart glasses for navigation guide covers what audio-only frames do and do not do on the street.

7. If you want camera-and-audio glasses now: OXIVUE M08C

OXIVUE publishes this page and sells the frames below, so weigh it accordingly. The M08C is $119 at checkout for one pair (listed at $169). It is a TR90 frame with gold or silver trim, positioned for the office and the golf course, and it comes with sun, photochromic or clear lenses. The photochromic lens darkens in UV light and turns close to clear indoors. It has an 8 MP camera (Sony IMX219), open-ear speakers and microphones, and Bluetooth 5.4. It weighs about 42 g and is rated 7 hours of listening and 4 hours of calls. The free companion app handles translation across 40+ languages. The translated audio is heard only by you, and the other person reads the reply on your phone.

It is not a substitute for the Gentle Monster glasses. It has no display, takes no prescription lenses, has no Meta AI and carries no Gentle Monster design. Capture starts only with a visible touch on the temple, and you should ask before recording people. If a trim colour is not the point, the M08 is $99 at checkout and the M02C is $109; the comparison page sets all four frames side by side.

Shipping, refunds and warranty. Free shipping from $99. US orders typically arrive in 5–9 business days. International orders take 9–14 business days after shipment. Import VAT or duties outside the US are paid by the recipient. No refunds except transit damage (replaced or refunded); faults are repaired or replaced under the 2-year warranty; change of mind and unmet expectations are not refundable. None of our frames take prescription lenses. Details on the shipping policy page. Read the refund policy.

Frequently asked questions

What is Gentle Monster?

Gentle Monster is an eyewear brand; its own site lists sunglasses, glasses and collections (checked October 31, 2026). It matters here because it is one of the eyewear brands working with Google and Samsung on smart glasses. Its page for that line is called Gentle Monster Intelligent Eyewear and describes it as combining the brand's design with Gemini, in collaboration with Google and Samsung. Road to VR reported in July 2026 that the new designs still had no names.

How much are Gentle Monster smart glasses?

No price has been announced. Neither Gentle Monster's Intelligent Eyewear page nor Google's Android XR page (both checked October 31, 2026) shows one. After Samsung's July 2026 Unpacked event, SamMobile reported that Samsung's head of extended reality R&D, Choi Jae-in, said pricing would be set at "a reasonable level" and that the smart glasses "should initially be positioned in the premium range." That is a positioning remark, not a figure, and as SamMobile reports it the remark does not single out Gentle Monster's designs. Treat any specific dollar amount you see as unconfirmed.

When is the Gentle Monster smart glasses release date?

There is no release date on either maker page, only a season. Gentle Monster's page says the debut collection is "arriving this fall," and Google's Android XR page says "The first collections of audio glasses will be launching this fall" (both checked October 31, 2026). Neither page showed a way to order these glasses: Gentle Monster's offers an email sign-up for updates, and Google's labels the audio glasses "Coming soon." Sign up on the maker's page if you want the announcement.

What is the difference between AI glasses and smart glasses?

Smart glasses is the umbrella term for glasses with built-in electronics, such as speakers, microphones, a camera or a display. We use AI glasses for smart glasses built around a voice assistant, and the labels overlap, so compare the camera, display and phone requirements of the actual model. Google's Android XR page (checked October 31, 2026) splits its glasses into audio glasses, launching this fall, and display glasses, labelled "Stay tuned." GSMArena says the two pairs it spent time with, from Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, run Android XR "without any screens on the inside."

Do the Gentle Monster smart glasses have a camera or a display?

Yes to a camera and no to a display, according to Google's page (camera) and GSMArena's first look (no screens). Google's Android XR page (checked October 31, 2026) describes its audio glasses with the line "Capture life as you see it, hands-free." GSMArena's July 23, 2026 first look says the pairs can record first-person video and take photos, run "without any screens on the inside," and that the Gentle Monster pair has a visible camera and LED indicator on the front. Gentle Monster's own page does not describe a camera or a display, so confirm both when it publishes specifications.

Will Gentle Monster smart glasses work with an iPhone?

Yes, going by the maker's wording: Gentle Monster's page (checked October 31, 2026) says the glasses are compatible with Android and iOS devices, so iOS is named. The same page adds "Compatibility, availability, and age restrictions vary" and "Some features require setup or subscription." It does not say which features. Check the feature list and any subscription terms before ordering, since the page does not publish them.

Are there camera-and-audio glasses I can buy today?

Yes. OXIVUE, which publishes this page, sells four camera-and-audio frames you can order now; the M08C with gold or silver trim is $119 at checkout (listed $169). It has an 8 MP camera, open-ear speakers and 40+ translation languages through the free companion app. It is not a Gentle Monster design, has no display, takes no prescription lenses and has no Meta AI. Two or more pairs in one order are 50% off all eyewear.

What these frames won’t do

  • No prescription lenses yet, on any model. If you need vision correction all day, these can't replace your glasses.
  • No display. Nothing appears in your view; you hear answers and capture photos and video.
  • Open-ear speakers leak some sound at high volume and won't block out a loud train or a windy road the way sealed earbuds do.
  • Translation, music, calls and the assistant need your phone nearby and connected. Translation pauses after each sentence, and only you hear the translated audio; the other person reads the reply on your phone.
  • M08C: no published water rating, so keep it out of heavy rain and spray.
