Halloween costume with sunglasses: six adult looks the shades finish
Some Halloween costumes only work once the dark sunglasses go on. This list covers six adult looks built around a pair of shades, what to wear for each, and where camera sunglasses fit in if you want photos of the party without holding your phone. OXIVUE publishes this page and sells the camera sunglasses it mentions; any dark pair works for every costume here.

1. Six Halloween costumes with sunglasses, at a glance
Six adult costumes in this guide depend on one prop: a pair of dark sunglasses. They are low-effort on purpose. Most of each outfit is probably already in your closet, and the shades are what turn “black clothes” into a character. The table pairs each look with the kind of sunglasses it needs and, if you want one, the OXIVUE frame that fits the shape. None of our frames is a copy of any film’s sunglasses, and none needs to be: at a party, dark lenses and the right outfit carry the idea.
| Look | What to wear | Sunglasses it needs | OXIVUE option (checkout) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sheet ghost in shades | White sheet with eye holes | Any dark pair, worn over the sheet | M08, sun lens · $99 |
| Black-suit agent duo | Black suit, white shirt, thin black tie, black shoes | Two matching plain dark pairs | Two M08 in one order · $149 together |
| Wraparound cyborg | Black leather jacket, black trousers, boots, metallic face paint | Dark wraparound | M14 Nero (smoke shield) · $149 |
| 80s classic | Pastel blazer with sleeves pushed up, plain T-shirt, loafers | Dark classic shape | M08, sun lens · $99 |
| Off-duty rock star | Leather jacket, band-style tee, slim black jeans, boots | Dark, worn indoors | M02C, sun lens · $109 |
| Loud-shirt tourist | Floral shirt, shorts, socks with sandals, bucket hat, paper map | Dark, slightly too serious | M08 or M02C, sun lens |
Prices checked 2026-10-19; checkout price may change. The M08 is listed at $149 and costs $99 at checkout as one pair; the M02C is listed at $159 and costs $109; the M14 is listed at $199 and costs $149. Two or more pairs in one order are 50% off all eyewear.
2. Sheet ghost in shades
The sheet ghost in sunglasses needs two things: a white sheet and one dark pair. Cut two eye holes, drape the sheet so it clears the floor, and wear the sunglasses on the outside, with the temples hooked over the sheet at your ears. That is the whole costume, and it reads instantly while looking slightly absurd.
- Make it adult. Add a prop that tells a joke: a coffee cup, a paperback, a tiny handbag. The deadpan ghost in shades is funnier than a spooky one.
- Which pair. Any dark pair works. If you wear the M08 on the sun lens, the camera sits in the frame corner outside the sheet, so a touch on the temple still captures what you are looking at.
- Seeing out. Dark lenses plus a sheet make a dim room dimmer. Lift the sunglasses or the sheet when you need to see where you are going.
3. Black-suit agent duo
The black-suit agent look, as seen in Men in Black, takes a black suit, a white shirt, a thin black tie, black shoes and dark sunglasses. It works best as a pair, which makes it an easy couples or best-friends costume: dress identically and keep a straight face all night.
- What sells it. Matching sunglasses on both of you, a plain dark shape, and a small silver gadget prop. A pen-shaped prop works; avoid anything that looks like a real weapon.
- Two pairs. Two or more pairs in one order are 50% off all eyewear, so two M08 on the sun lens come to $149 together. Two M02C come to $159.
- No film match. Neither the M08 nor the M02C is a replica of the sunglasses worn on screen. They are plain dark frames that read the same way at a party.
4. Wraparound cyborg
A cyborg costume in the style of The Terminator needs a black leather jacket, black trousers, boots and a dark wraparound pair of sunglasses. Metallic or silver face paint on one side of the face, and a slow, expressionless walk, do the rest.
This is the look the M14 suits. In the Nero colourway it has a black frame and a smoke one-piece shield that wraps across the face, which reads as futuristic without any styling. It weighs 52 g, has a Sony IMX219 8 MP camera and is rated IPX4for splash and rain. Two limits: the shield is fixed, so it cannot be swapped for a clear lens, and it is not a copy of any film’s sunglasses. After Halloween it is the frame we position for cycling and skiing.
5. 80s classic
An 80s costume with sunglasses is three pieces: a pastel blazer with the sleeves pushed up, a plain T-shirt underneath and loafers worn without socks. Add dark sunglasses and slick your hair back, and the decade is obvious from across the room.
- Variation.A neon workout look with a headband and leg warmers is another 80s look; the M14’s sporty wrap shield fits that one.
- Which pair. A dark classic shape suits the blazer look. The M08 on the sun lens is $99 at checkout and weighs about 42 g.
6. Off-duty rock star
The rock-star costume is a leather jacket, a band-style T-shirt, slim black jeans, boots and sunglasses that stay on indoors. Messy hair and a little eyeliner finish it. It is also an easy fallback if you are invited to a party at short notice, because most of it is ordinary clothing.
The M02C on the sun lens fits this look at $109 at checkout. It weighs about 41 g, has a Sony IMX219 8 MP camera with dual stabilisation, and is rated IP65 for dust and water jets (not immersion), which helps if the party spills outside in the rain.
7. Loud-shirt tourist
The tourist costume is a loud floral shirt, shorts, socks with sandals, a bucket hat, a paper map and sunglasses worn with total seriousness. A camera is part of the joke, which makes camera sunglasses a natural fit: you can play the tourist who photographs everything, as long as you ask people first (see the filming section below).
Either the M08 or the M02C on the sun lens works. For more on how the camera behaves, read our camera sunglasses guide and our POV glasses guide.
8. If you wear prescription glasses
OXIVUE has no prescription option on any model, so our sunglasses cannot replace glasses you need to see. Many people searching for “Halloween costumes with glasses” wear prescription frames every day, and for them the easier route is to build the costume around their own glasses.
- Use your own frames. Characters known for their glasses, a bookish detective, a scientist in a lab coat, or a 70s professor in corduroy all work with the glasses you already wear.
- If you want dark lenses too. Ask your optician about prescription sunglasses or fit-over sunglasses for the shades-based looks above.
- Smart glasses later. If you want camera or audio glasses with vision correction, our prescription smart glasses guide explains the options and why ours are not one of them.
9. Filming the party: ask first
Camera sunglasses capture the party hands-free, but only with consent. On OXIVUE frames a photo or clip starts only with a deliberate touch on the temple; there is no display, and files go to the HeyCyan app on your phone.
- Ask before you film people. Tell friends you are wearing camera glasses and ask before recording them.
- Children.Filming your own children trick-or-treating is your call. Ask parents before filming other people’s children, and do not film other trick-or-treaters at the door.
- Haunted houses and attractions. Many ban photos and video. Check their rules before you go in and follow them.
- Audio and the law. Recording conversations is covered by state wiretap laws; our recording laws by state guide has the detail. This is general information, not legal advice.
- Getting home. Take dark sunglasses off before you drive.

Frequently asked questions
What costumes can I do with sunglasses?
At least six easy adult looks are built around dark sunglasses: a white-sheet ghost wearing shades, a black-suit agent duo, a leather-jacket cyborg in wraparound glasses, an 80s pastel-blazer look, an off-duty rock star and a loud-shirt tourist. In each one the sunglasses are the detail that makes the outfit read as a costume, and most of the rest can come from your own wardrobe.
Where can I buy glasses for a costume?
Costume shops and party retailers sell plain prop sunglasses, and any dark pair you already own works for these looks. If you want the sunglasses to do something after Halloween, camera sunglasses are another option: the OXIVUE M08 is $99 at checkout, the M02C $109 and the M14 wrap shield $149, each with an 8 MP camera and open-ear speakers. None of them take prescription lenses.
What can I wear to a Halloween party that's not a costume?
A black outfit and a pair of dark sunglasses is the simplest answer: it reads as an agent, a rock star or a movie extra depending on what you add. A white shirt and a thin black tie push it toward the agent look; a leather jacket pushes it toward rock star. It takes minutes, and nobody at the party will say you skipped the costume.
What costume can I wear if I wear prescription glasses?
Build the costume around your own frames. Characters known for their glasses, a bookish detective, a scientist or a 70s professor all work with the glasses you already wear. If you want dark lenses as well, ask your optician about prescription sunglasses or fit-over sunglasses. OXIVUE camera sunglasses have no prescription option on any model, so they cannot replace glasses you need to see.
Is it OK to film at a Halloween party with camera glasses?
Yes, with consent. Ask people before you film them, and ask parents before filming other people's children or trick-or-treaters; filming your own children is your call. Haunted houses and attractions often ban photos and video, so check their rules first. On OXIVUE frames a capture starts only with a touch on the temple, and recording laws, especially for audio, vary by state.
Can I swap the M14 lens for a clear one at an evening party?
No. The M14 has a fixed one-piece shield, so the lens cannot be swapped. The M08 and M02C are sold with a choice of sun, photochromic or clear lens; the clear lens is not tinted, so it suits evening wear, but it also loses the dark look these costumes depend on. Choose the lens when you order.
Will camera sunglasses arrive before Halloween?
Only if you order early. US delivery takes 5–9 business days; to have them by Halloween, order early in the week of October 19. Arrival by a particular date is not guaranteed. International orders take 9–14 business days after shipment, so they will not arrive in time this year. Shipping is free from $99, which covers every single pair.
What these frames won’t do
- No prescription lenses yet, on any model. If you need vision correction all day, these can't replace your glasses.
- No display. Nothing appears in your view; you hear answers and capture photos and video.
- Open-ear speakers leak some sound at high volume and won't block out a loud train or a windy road the way sealed earbuds do.
- Translation, music, calls and the assistant need your phone nearby and connected. Translation pauses after each sentence, and only you hear the translated audio; the other person reads the reply on your phone.
- M14: one-piece shield, so the lens can't be swapped for clear or photochromic.
- M14: IPX4 covers splash, spray and rain only, and at 52 g it is heavier than the 41–42 g frames.
- M08: no published water rating, so keep it out of heavy rain and spray.
- M02C: IP65 resists dust and water jets, not immersion. No swimming, no saltwater.
Check these before you order: see the warranty and refund policy.
