2. What each price tier buys
Under $200: audio translation plus a camera
This is where every OXIVUE frame sits. The glasses pick up speech through their microphones, the HeyCyan app on your phone translates it, and you hear the result through open-ear speakers. Each frame also has an 8 MP camera and works as open-ear headphones for music and calls. There is no display, so nothing appears in front of your eyes.
$249 to $449: audio translation with Meta AI
Meta’s glasses also play translation as audio. What you pay extra for is the Meta ecosystem, Meta AI and the brand frames: Meta Adventurer from $249, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 from $379 and Gen 3 from $449. Meta says live translation on Meta Glasses supports 20 languages. Dymesty Cook Edge, at $299, is a titanium audio frame that lists 100+ languages and has no camera.
About $600: captions on the lens
Even Realities G2 starts at $599 and shows translated text in your line of sight, in 35 languages by its own count. Reading captions suits noisy rooms and people who would rather not have a voice in their ear. The price roughly quadruples compared with the M08 because you are buying a display. For more on that category, see smart glasses with a display.
3. OXIVUE: every model translates
You do not pay extra for translation at OXIVUE. It is on every frame we sell, so the choice comes down to how you will wear them.
- M08 · $149. 40+ languages, 8 MP camera, ~42 g, 7 h listening. On a sunglasses lens it is our pick for hiking, driving and fishing, and the cheapest way to try translation glasses.
- M02C · $159.40+ languages, IP65, dual stabilization and “Hey Cyan” visual AI that can describe what you are looking at. The everyday frame.
- M08C · $169. 40+ languages in a gold or silver trim frame that also transcribes and records meetings. Our business and golf frame.
- M14 · $199. 139 languages. A 52 g one-piece wrap shield, IPX4, 4 h listening and 7 h calls, built for skiing and cycling. Its specs differ from the M08 family almost everywhere, so read its own page.
Two limits worth knowing before you buy. First, the translated audio is heard only by the wearer; the other person follows your side on your phone. Second, we do not publish a per-language list for the M08, M02C or M08C, and accuracy varies by language pair and accent on every model. Test the pair you actually need in the first days.
4. Costs the sticker leaves out
- A phone and a data plan. OXIVUE translation runs through the free HeyCyan app on a paired phone with a data connection. Abroad, budget for roaming or a local SIM.
- Subscriptions. OXIVUE lists no subscription for translation. For any other brand, check whether translation is part of a paid plan.
- Prescription lenses. No OXIVUE model supports them. If you need your prescription, another brand’s lens add-on can add a lot to the total.
- Shipping and after-sales. OXIVUE ships free from $99. US orders typically arrive in 5 to 9 business days and international orders in 9 to 14. A 2-year warranty covers faults by repair or replacement. OXIVUE does not offer refunds except for an order damaged in transit.

Frequently asked questions
How much do translation glasses cost?
On makers' own stores, checked on 2026-10-04, glasses that translate run from $149 to $599. OXIVUE's M08 is $149, the M02C $159, the M08C $169 and the M14 $199. Meta Adventurer starts at $249, Dymesty Cook Edge is $299, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 starts at $379 and Gen 3 at $449. Even Realities G2, which shows captions on the lens, starts at $599.
What are the cheapest translation glasses?
Among the makers we checked on 2026-10-04, the cheapest is the OXIVUE M08 at $149. It translates 40+ languages through the HeyCyan app and plays the translation in your ear through open-ear speakers. It also has an 8 MP camera. Unbranded listings on marketplaces can be cheaper, but they often publish no language count, no warranty and no app name.
Why do some translation glasses cost $599 or more?
Mostly because of the display. Even Realities G2 ($599 from evenrealities.com on 2026-10-04) shows translated text in your line of sight, so you read the other person instead of listening. Audio-only translation glasses like the OXIVUE range play the translation in your ear and have no display, which keeps the price under $200.
Do translation glasses need a subscription?
OXIVUE translation runs in the free HeyCyan app with no subscription listed. You do need a paired phone with a data connection. If you are comparing other brands, check whether translation sits behind a paid plan before you buy, because that cost is not on the sticker.
Can the other person hear the translation?
Not through the glasses. On every OXIVUE model the translated audio is heard only by the wearer, through the open-ear speakers. The other person follows your side of the conversation on your phone. Treat translation glasses as a tool for you, not a loudspeaker for the table.
How many languages do OXIVUE translation glasses support?
The M08 ($149), M02C ($159) and M08C ($169) support 40+ languages. We do not publish a per-language list for them, so test the pair you need in the first days. The M14 ($199) supports 139 languages through the HeyCyan app. Accuracy varies by language pair, accent and background noise on every model.
Are translation glasses worth the money?
They are worth it if you have regular one-to-one conversations across a language gap, such as travel, a relative who speaks another language or customers at work. They are less useful in noisy groups, for legal or medical conversations, or if you need the other person to hear a voice. At $149 the M08 is a low-risk way to find out, and it is also a camera and a pair of open-ear headphones.
Can I get translation glasses with prescription lenses?
Not from OXIVUE. No OXIVUE model supports prescription lenses. The M08 family offers sunglasses, photochromic or clear lenses, and the M14 has a fixed one-piece shield. If you need your prescription, check that brand's prescription programme and price it into the total.
What does the price include at OXIVUE?
The listed price, free shipping from $99, and a 2-year warranty that repairs or replaces a frame with a fault. US delivery typically takes 5 to 9 business days and international delivery 9 to 14 business days. OXIVUE does not offer refunds except for an order damaged in transit, which is replaced or refunded.
What these frames won’t do
- No prescription lenses yet, on any model. If you need vision correction all day, these can't replace your glasses.
- No display. Nothing appears in your view; you hear answers and capture photos and video.
- Open-ear speakers leak some sound at high volume and won't block out a loud train or a windy road the way sealed earbuds do.
- Translation, music, calls and the assistant need your phone nearby and connected. Translation pauses after each sentence, and only you hear the translated audio; the other person reads the reply on your phone.
- M08: no published water rating, so keep it out of heavy rain and spray.
- M14: one-piece shield, so the lens can't be swapped for clear or photochromic.
- M14: IPX4 covers splash, spray and rain only, and at 52 g it is heavier than the 41–42 g frames.
- M02C: IP65 resists dust and water jets, not immersion. No swimming, no saltwater.
Check these before you order: see the warranty and refund policy.
